Default News on upcoming music related dvds

Coming out next Tuesday is a new video collection dvd from Janet Jackson, not complete since it doesn't have Doesn't Really Matter, but still might be worth it for hardcore fans. I'm not sure if I'll get it since I have most of these on the All For You special edition bonus dvd.

Janet Jackson - From Janet to Damita Jo: The Videos
Track listing as follows:
1. That's The Way Love Goes
2. If
3. Again
4. Because Of Love
5. Any Time, Any place
6. You Want This
7. Got Til' It's Gone
8. Together Again
9. Together Again (Deeper remix)
10. I Get Lonely
11. Go Deep
12. You
13. Every Time
14. All For You
15. Someone To Call My Lover
16. Son Of A Gun (featuring Missy Elliot)
17. Just A Little While (BONUS- live UK version)
18. I Want You
19. All Nite (Don't Stop)

Bonus Features:
- Damita Jo interview
- Behind-the -scenes- Making of Damita Jo album & making of All Nite (Don't Stop)
- Photo-slide
- Exclusive live performances/shows (Ryan Seacrest and Much Music Tv Show)

On this DVD for the first time ever, you can experience her music videos in high-resolution 5.1 surround sound!

Further more the DVD contains never before released videos, "Son Of A Gun" from the All For You album plus all of the videos from her recent, Damita Jo album including special live performance of "Just A Little While."

Among the featured videos, you also get to experience live performance, never-before-seen interview footage, behind-the-scene video footage and musical photo-slide show.

The DVD contains behind the seen footage from "All Nite (Don't Stop) plus interview footage.

Re-live Janet's exceptional performances and emotional interview at the Ryan Seacrest Show .

The DVD contains a musical photo-slide with over 35 pictures taking you through her journeys of each album.

The rest of the info below comes from davisdvd. When is Warner going to release the Prince video collection I've been waiting years for? (<--I hate this particular smiley, can't believe I used it.) The Peter Gabriel collection should be good, I always liked Shock the Monkey, Sledgehammer, Big Time and Steam.

Peter Gabriel is currently remixing audio tracks for an as-yet-untitled DVD compilation of his videos due for release on October 19th through Warner Vision. Gabriel, working with producer Daniel Lanois, says the project will allow viewers to experience such hits as "Sledgehammer" and "Red Rain" in true 5.1 surround sound. "The project has been on the cards for some time, and now seems to be the perfect timing," he recently told Billboard.com. "Daniel is doing mixes that will sometimes sound better than the originals. It is a much wider sound [with] more clarity." The DVD will include 18-20 tracks, among them "Biko," "Digging in the Dirt," "Shock the Monkey," "Games Without Frontiers," "Don't Give Up" and Gabriel's personal favorites "Sledgehammer," "Mercy Street" and "Digging in the Dirt." Some videos will also be re-edited and, in some cases, new images will be added. "We won't touch the better ones, but on some others we will have new material," Gabriel said.

Jay-Z's self-directed autobiographical film, Streets Is Watching, will be released onto DVD. The short film, originally released in 1998, chronicles the rapper's meteoric rise from the streets of Brooklyn to international fame. The Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam DVD will feature a new score, "lost video footage," as well as the movie's original soundtrack featuring tracks from Rell, M.O.P. and Memphis Bleek, DMX, Noreaga, Ja Rule and DJ Clue. Look for the DVD to street on October 5th.

David Bowie's two acclaimed shows at Dublin's Point Theatre in November 2003 are being released to DVD on October 19th. David Bowie: A Reality Tour, with its thirty-track set, was recorded on November 22nd and 23rd 2003 at the Point, an 8,000-seat venue that was formerly a train depot. Among the tracks featured will be the classics "Rebel Rebel," "Fame," "Ashes to Ashes," "Under Pressure" and material from Bowie's two most recent albums, "Reality" and "Heathen." The disc will also include a ten-page booklet. A special CD+DVD tour pack is currently available which includes the "Reality" CD (plus bonus track "Waterloo Sunset") and a bonus DVD featuring an entire eleven-track live performance of the new album at Hammersmith Riverside.

Has there been any word on when they're gonna release Live Aid on DVD? I had heard November, but then heard it was pushed back.

Concerning the Live Aid concert, I just checked amazon.com. Their pre-order price is just $27.99 for the four discs. Still have to wait and see what's included and what's missing. November 9

I lost all interest in it when I read everything that's going to be taken out:

Led Zeppelin's reunion set is removed
Paul McCartney's set is removed
Queen's set is edited
Madonna's set is edited

a lot of others, those are just the biggies

I've still got interest if it's under 30 bucks. You can be sure I'm getting it if the Prince video is included.

Thanks Vash & BuffySlayer for the info. I heard that Led Zeppelin wasn't satisfied with their Live Aid performance, but I would still like to have it on DVD since my VHSs that I taped it on in '85 is starting really age. Can't believe they would remove Paul McCartney? Wonder what for? I'm like Vashti, if it's under $30 I'll probably pick it up.

The SRP is $39.95. Amazon.com has it for $27.99. Still don't know if I'll get it.

The good thing is that it still benefits the charity:

A disclaimer of sorts from the booklet:

All the performers gave their time free of charge on Live Aid day and no money has been paid to them by the Band Aid Trust for their inclusion in this DVD. The publishers, record companies and songwriters also waived their fees to help maximize the revenues for the Band Aid Trust.

Money raised from the sales of this DVD will be used to continue the work of the Band Aid Trust in Africa.

Queen's performance alone is worth the price of admission.
