As the Motown 45th Anniversary Artists Avatar of the Week continues next Saturday, I have a poll for you for those of you who love one-hit wonders. What is your favorite Motown one-hit wonder song?

How about Charlene's "I've Never Been To Me"? or "Sugar Don't Bite" by Sam Harris? or "Somebody's Watching Me" by Rockwell (even though "Obscene Phone Caller" was somewhat popular) That Rockwell album was a big favorite of mine, I guess because musically, it wasn't far from what Prince did with 1999.

didn't Bonnie Pointer (I am shocked she never returned to perform with her sisters, as her solo career fizzled out by the dawn of the 80's, while her sisters got bigger and bigger) also score a solo hit with I Can't Help Myself?

That could be considered a Motown one hit wonder too, 'cept it wasn't a hit.

I chose "Dial My Heart" by the Boys in addition to that other Motown one-hit wonder like the following:
1. "Do You Love Me" - The Contours 2. "Money (That's What I Want)" - Barrett Strong 3. "Smiling Faces Sometimes" - Undisputed Truth 4. "Medley: What the World Need Now Is Love/Abraham, Martin & John" - Tom Clay (I must've put it wrong but it was Charles Clay) 5. "Brothers Gonna Work It Out" - Willie Hutch Other Motown one-hit wonders didn't make it to the list: 1. "Don't Leave Me This Way" - Thelma Houston 2. "So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday" - GC Cameron 3. "Every Little Bit Hurts" - Brenda Holloway 4. "Let It Whip" - Dazz Band 5. "Don't Look Any Further" - Dennis Edwards 6. "Somebody's Watching Me" - Rockwell |

Dazz Band wasn't hardly a one hit wonder on Motown. They made a lot of good albums on Motown. They're from my hometown Cleveland, Ohio & the lead singer Skip Martin is my cousin even though i've never met him. My mom met him yrs ago. Keep It Live, Joystick, Jukebox albums were very good. Let It Whip song was on Keep It Live album. I got copies of these 3 albums i just named on cd & i'm so glad i have them on cd off the internet cause they aren't available on cd at the record stores. Skip Martin who was the lead singer of the group went solo after their The Hot Spot album. I don't think they were on Motown when The Hot Spot album came out. Jermaine Jackson didn't really have much success as a solo artist on Motown did he? I know Let's Get Serious was a big hit for him but that's about it. His Let's Get Serious album was pretty good though. I liked the songs Burnin Hot & Feelin Free on that album. Those songs are the jams. Dennis Edwards Don't Look Any Further song is the jam. 2Pac sampled it for his Hit Em Up diss song about Biggie.
