Guys,
For the master historians of Johnny Carson's The Tonight Show, I have a couple of questions for you: 1.) Is the first episode from October, 1962 still known to exist? I head that for Carson's video tape/DVD series that the first show's was "recreated" from old archived footage of the best skits picked by Carson and an audio tape that was found by a home viewer. 2.) Coinciding with the question, How many seasons of The Tonight Show's episodes still exist in their entirty? How much is left, or gone? I heard that Johnny has the master tapes in a personalized underground mine that is temperature/moisture regulated so that they can not be damaged in any way? Is this true? Do you know where the vault is located? Thanks a lot Jack |

johnny said many times that no video tape or kiniscope of his first show exists but he does have an audio tape of the show as far as ive been able to tell the oldest show that still surives is from 1964 with henry morgan as lead guest the vulat that the shows are in is somewhere in the state of kansas i believe but im not sure where im glad your interested in johnny kids today wonder why we still miss his being on tv the best way to tell them is to watch a tape if you can find one even if the jokes are dated his interviewing and comicedic skill are what made him the king of late night
