Default What do you think about those bumpy pavement markers on the highways?

What do you think about those bumpy freeway and highway markers that are in rows of 4 to 6 little white or yellow raised bumps, mainly white raised bumps, that they call Dots Bots? California has them on it's freeways and highways. Texas has them on its freeways and highways, too. They always are in rows of 4-6 raised little white bumps, and they are annoying when you're merging from one lane to another at highway speeds and you feel the rumble on your wheels. The rumble at times seems to course through your body as well. Dots Bots have got to be the most annoying highway features ever created by humans. Anyone else agree. And is California and Texas the only two states that features these raised white dots that are in formations of 4 to 6 that are used to replace white lane marker paint?

Me thinks you're talking about those reflectors that are in the middle of the road. We have them here in Fla., too. I don't think alot of the northern states have them, though because in the winter when the snowplows are out, they'll just tear them up and would probably have to be replaced every year.

Yeah, they're a pain, but it's basically for safety reasons, especially when driving at night.

They look more like this instead, not like those reflectors that light up on Afton Mountain along Interstate 64 in Virginia. Or like those weird 4 sided single reflector bumps with the feflection thingy in the front. Instead these bumps look like this.

OK, now I call those rumble strips.

BTW, I know what part of I-64 you're talking about where the interstate lights up!! Kinda feel like you're on an airport runway.

Anyhoo...rumble strips suck. Pot holes suck. Speed bumbs suck. Rough roads suck. They all hurt my car and that pisses me off.

oh god i know what you mean about rough roads. my block has had these signs that say "road work ahead" for 3 months now. Its all rocks and dirt everywhere it's so ghetto. Everytime I go down the street i loose control of the wheel. They saY they're doing road work yet I've yet to see them doing anything about it. It's killing my tires. Kind of like that time i ran over that dead squirrel

I hate that when I'm in a speeding vehicle and weaving lanes when these dots bots are on the road and you end up feeling the hard rumble when you change lanes.

I don't know about that, but I think those "I break for squirrels" bumper stickers that, rumor has it, were created by squirrels is worse and more annoying than dot bots. Breaking for squirrels can be deadly. It can cause wrecks.

I like dot bots. We have two little ones in Bad Axe to make sure you slow down before the intersection. They feel funny. ^-^

They had real long ones on the outside lanes in case you fall asleep and stuff. Dude, when me and Amanda were driving up to Portland for Clay last month, I was riding in the 3rd lane and there was this mobile home trailer thing in the middle lane. So Im passing it obviously being in the fast lane, and the ******* is like.. starting to get into my lane as Im driving next to him. WTF. I ran all over those bumps scaring the **** out of me, and I blared my horn and me and Amanda flipped him off. I couldnt see too well, but it looked like he was smiling. Friggan bastard.

You are supposed to change lanes around them and not over them..that way it doesn't rumble inside your car
