Default I have a question

Okay, I haven't really seen too many episodes of Alf.

That one night they were premiering Alf's Talk Show, I skipped it because I wanted to see the classic, I heard they were gonna have a marathon after the talk show.

I watched those 4 episodes, they were actually quite funny.

I'm not a real Alf master, but I'd like to see more of the show, and no networks here show it... So is the DVD worth getting?

ABSOLUTELY NOT!

the episodes on the dvd are censored, its not worth buying.
Instead, write to the company (Lion's Gate) and tell them you will not buy the dvd unless they release uncut versions of the episodes.

well if by "minor" you mean like 2-4 minutes per episode...

the VERY beginning of the first episode has 2 whole minutes missing.

They're good, but if an episode is missing so much from it, IMO the DVD Is not worth paying for

No one seems to notice I'm saying I don't care about the editing, I want to know if this is a good series... I don't care about the editing and I will consider buying the DVD if the series is good. I've only seen 4 episodes of the show and I like what I see so far...

HwTH212, I would definitely recommend the DVD set!!! I got it on release day and have been enjoying it immensely ever since! A big plus is that the first season is probably the best and most funny of the entire series. Picture and sound quality is great, and the interactive menus are hilarious! Also, don't listen to these people that tell you up to 4 minutes has been cut from each episode. That's total bull. The eps, excluding end credits run for 22-23 minutes. Now whoever heard of a TV show w/out commercials having a run time of 27 minutes??? Not even uncut eps of The Lucy Show run that long! TV series w/out commercials are only intended to run for an average of 22 minutes. That's just common knowledge. These have certainly not been "totally butchered" as some people might tell you...

Go for it!

Bb25.. i can prove that they are cut..

I have the original UNCUT pilot episode and it begins with Willy walking into the garage to call his friend from yugoslavia. It does NOT begin when Willy and Kate are already there.

And no this is not from the unaired pilot, the original pilot had Brian, Lynne and Kate walk into the garage too, i have the pictures to prove it.

Wanna see? just lemme know and i'll post them on the picture board.

The total time cut out from the VERY BEGINNING of the show is about 2 minutes...

and during the 80s a show usually ran between 24-25 minutes.

The pilot episodes does NOT run 22-23 minutes like you claim, i checked and it runs 20:30, the uncut version is about 24 minutes long. so YES they are cut.

Ok, for one, I never said anything about the pilot (specifically) running 22-23 minutes. I meant the eps in general. Also, how do you caluclate that 20:30 time? Are you not including either set of credits? Also, the pilot you were mentioning IS included. If that's not the one, are you saying there were 3 pilots, and the one that really aired back in 86 isn't even included? Highly unlikely...

Either way, I don't even want to argue about this...I just think it sucks how alot of people are just complaining about minimal cuts instead of enjoying what it is, which is a great presentation of the first season of a classic TV show...

I checked on my dvd player, and it shows 20:30 when the first ep is over, including end credits

"Also, the pilot you were mentioning IS included. If that's not the one, are you saying there were 3 pilots, and the one that really aired back in 86 isn't even included? Highly unlikely..."

Well, there is one UNAIRED pilot which is on the dvd, then there is the ORIGINAL pilot, the one that aired on tv which is included on the dvd, but has 3 minutes cut out of it. The original pilot episode (which btw can be seen complete in non-syndicated airings) begins with Willy walking out to the garage with Brian, then later Kate and Lynne walks in (Lynne tells about her boyfriend in the garage), then Brian and Lynne walks out and that is when Willy shuts off the radio (this is where the syndicated version starts)

"Either way, I don't even want to argue about this...I just think it sucks how alot of people are just complaining about minimal cuts instead of enjoying what it is, which is a great presentation of the first season of a classic TV show..."

Well would you buy a book if 1/5 of the pages were torn out?
Would you buy "Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring" if the first chapter was not in the book so you wouldnt know the beginning? I ask you this.

The picture quality of the dvd is indeed good, but the company sucks for using syndicated versions of the episodes, instead of using the real episodes, also the packaging of the box is poor and Ive heard several people complain about it.

The "original" pilot you described sounds just like the unaired one that is included. So what if they say it was "unaired", at least it was included...

Also, I'd never buy a LOTR book, so it wouldn't matter...
