In regards to whether Three's A Crowd (or The Ropers for that matter) will ever be released on DVD, I have every episode of both series if anybody is interested in obtaining copies on either VHS or DVD. If so, I can be reached at hitman-brent@shaw.ca

I don't know what success anyone else has had, but after several dissapointments, I have found wonderful quality episodes of "THE ROPER'S".
Go to buysellcommunity.com and search THE ROPER'S. The sellers name is Jess78, and I bought all of the episodes for $14.00...which included shipping. They came on 4 dvd-r's, no artwork, but VERY good video and audio. BTW...the seller ALSO has THREE'S A CROWD! I have to say, I have seen about half the episodes now, and DAMMIT...they are a hell of alot better than most have commented. I've laughed out loud several times. ENJOY! Chris O |

I talked to someone from DLT recently and they said there are no plans at all for The Ropers or Three's a Crowd to be released on DVD. DLT is Don Taffner Entertainment, the owner of the three shows. They said it hasn't been discussed in a long time and that it doesn't look good because they feel the cost of a release would outweigh the demand.
I still think they should have taken a shot and released The Ropers back when they did Three's Company. Just unedited episodes on 4 discs would have been fine. I don't care much for Three's a Crowd and would only buy it for the sake of completeness. Contact them if you want the show(s) released. 212-245-4680 http://www.dltentertainment.com/asp/contact.aspx Also, try Anchor Bay or any other studio you'd like to convince to license it from DLT. suggestions@anchorbayent.com |

I wonder how edited the Antenna TV airings will be starting in April? Off topic: I contacted DLT and got Seasons 5 and 6 of TC in the original packaging. $13 per set. I just need Season 4 and I'll have them all. They acted like a DVD release of The Ropers and TaC is just hopeless. What a shame. They should have gambled on a release of those back when TC first came out on DVD. I sent them another email asking if any of those Season 1 episodes we talked about were in fact edited. I also asked about "Lee Ain't Heavy..." and mentioned the two episodes that we know are edited(RR and MM). The guy said he'll check into it and get back to me. That was yesterday. I have doubts I'll hear back on that question, but I figured, why not ask? I know the Antenna TV airings of Three's Company will run much shorter than the episodes on DVD, but I'm going to record all the short Season 1 episodes, Lee Ain't Heavy, etc. just to do a scene comparison. If those Season 1 episodes are edited on DVD, maybe the syndicated versions will contain scenes not on the DVD? I've seen other DVDs with scenes missing due to music clearances and for no reason at all(Happy Days, Cheers), yet the missing scenes are actually intact on TV reruns. There's an old Happy Days episode where Richie and Fonzie meet Laverne and Shirley for the first time. On the DVD, the episode is missing over 3 minutes. Back in November, I recorded it off The Hub and over 2 minutes of missing scenes were included in the syndicated rerun. There was no music in the scenes either, so their absence on the DVD is just strange. It might be worth a look for Three's Company to answer the question on Season 1 and Lee Ain't Heavy, not that Antenna TV will likely show the tag scenes though. Those short run times on 5 of 6 episodes would be near normal with tag scenes added on. However, the one Season 1 episode with a tag is still a minute shorter than Seasons 2 and 3 on average. |
