If you have a sharp eye, when watching the episode-"Sweet Daddy Williams," you will see that Michael is on the couch reading a Ebony Magazine and the cast of the Jeffersons are on the front cover. Another interesting fact about that Ebony Magazine Michael was reading was that it was actually the January 1976 Issue of Ebony, the same month that Good Times episode aired on CBS.

i read that on a good times fact sheet somewhere...interesting. they were always reading The Defender and other black publications. if you notice, bill cosby picked up on that too (with all the talk of him these days) when anyone was spending time near the coffee table or reading on the couch. they were always reading essence or ebony...on 1 episode Claire was reading the Essence with his wife on the cover. go figure....
so i believe cosby did see a few good times episodes - enough to pick up from it. so he had to appreciate a few things from the show b/c this show AND other shows just like it, paved the way for him. hope i'm not off topic on this one. but your post made me think of some other things too. interesting........... |
