Default Reactions to the Season 1 DVD

Now that Boy Meets World Season 1 has finally been released, I was wondering what thoughts/reactions people have had to it.

So far, I have watched the Pilot and the commentary for Hair Today, Goon Tomorrow. Here are my opinions:

-It was weird having Matthew Lawrence give commentary for an episode he was not in. I think the reason they had him do it was because he is one of the bigger names from the show. They probably figured that attaching his name to the Season 1 DVD would sell more copies.

-One reason that "Boy Meets World" is such a great show is the way they can teach a lesson without it ruining the episode. In contrast, shows like "Full House" and "Step By Step" like to stop the plot, play the sappy music, and then preach their lesson.

-When the show began, the stars were Cory and his family and Feeny. I think that the Shawn and Topanga characters grew because many people found them interesting (and Rider Strong and Danielle Fishel were able to make their characters compelling/funny/fun to watch).

Those are some of my opinions. For those who have bought Season 1 on DVD, what observations do you have?

I felt bad for Matthew Lawrence cause he didn't say much, what was there really for him to contribute?

Yeah like Michael Jacobs said Danielle was so great, she WAS Topanga.

I thought the commentaries were excellent. I learned alot of stuff I never knew before. I never noticed that almost everyone wore hoods on their shirts in the first season

All in all the DVD rocks, so does the bonus episode

I enjoyed the commentary.

All that Minkus got me remembering. When BMW was new, Lee Norris was the biggest name on the show, for me. I was a big fan of "The Torkelsons" (which was mentioned in the commentary) and I was upset when he didn't return for season 2.

I like how the cast really seem to like the show they did. Rider addressed why he had a sister for just one episode. They all seem like the kid of people I'd like to hang out with. Even though I never will.

It was great having the original music. Even Danielle commented on the opening. She said how she watches the show on The Disney Channel. Somehow, I never pictured any of the cast members watching the show.

DVD Review = A+

I just came home about 30 minutes ago with my Boy Meets World Season 1 DVD set!! Woohoo!!! I'm excited!! As soon as Who's the Boss? is over, I am going to pop in the first disc to begin watching it!

I was surprised to see it at WalMart. It was $32.99. People here were saying it was about $50. Where did you buy yours for that price? That's way pricey....

Anyway, can't wait till everyone here gets their DVD set!!

I know that Rider Strong was always part of the cast. I was just pointing out that his role seemed to expand after the first season.

They actually won TV's favorite friends award in Season 7.

Rider mentioned in the commentaries that Cory was originally going to have two best friends, but it didn't work out.

Also, I can't remember what Michael Jacobs said exactly in the commentaries(word for word), but he basically said that Rider was so good the role just got bigger

Exactly. And if you watch the pilot, Cory does have two best friends that seem to have equal roles. In my opinion, it is clear that Rider was simply a much better actor than the other guy.
