I'd agree with that.

Though I think All in the Family definitely pushed it a little further.
And if you got rid of the abortion thing with Maude it wouldn't even be close.

Cool

One Day at a Time and Goodtimes definitely had the most drama behind the scenes. One Day at a Time because of Mackenzie Phillips drug addiction and Goodtimes because of the contriversial departures from the cast of John Amos and later Esther Rolle. But I agree that on screen All in the Family and Maude were the most dramatic.

well, since I haven't seen "Good Times" & "One Day at a Time" in YEARS, and "Maude" in about 3 years, I'll say "All In The Family"

well, from what I remember, "One Day at a Time" had a couple sad episodes, but I wouldn't say deppresing.

Why would anyone ever want to watch something depressing??

Dramatic, I completely understand (although thats not my thing).... but to watch something depressing is kind of stupid.

I want to analyze One Day a Time for myself to see if i agree with the TV Guide Critic about how depressing certain episodes were.

I remember a two parter where Barbara(Valerie Bertinelli) ignores a girl who desperately wants to be her friend. She becomes depressed when Barbara yells at her so she tries to commit suicide by overdosing on pills. It was real good.

There's a difference between being dramatic and being depressing.
A big difference.
