After giving Eddie "The BIG MAC" -

Florida: Eddie, there's something you have to understand. We discipline our children because we love them. If we didn't we wouldn't take the time. Do you understand?"

Eddie: You don't love me.

Thelma: How do you know?

Florida: Loving is caring.

James: Maybe I do care a little.

Here is another classic statement in reference to a beating

Michael: Daddy, desperate times calls for desperate actions

James: I'm going to put some desperate action on the seat of your behind

Classic Comedy.

Florida: Michael, I want you to comb your hair, scrub up good and change your shirt.

Michael: For some ole doopey girl. Mama, the guests are supposed to do that.

James (cluthes his belt buckle) Do you need a little help with your decision?

Michael: Let's see, should I wear my black shirt or my tan shirt?

Default Referring back to my post on "Poor Michael"

Now do you see how I think Michael is unappreciated in "Good Times"? Everytime he has an opinion or a statement that made sense all along, everyone dismisses him or James always unloosens his belt. Or he gets sent out of the room all the time. Geez, man, now I see why Michael was always a mad little boy, nobody appreciated him!

I recall that Florida and even J.J. would threaten Michael with physical violence once. FLorida would threaten to beat the kids often in the first season.

I believe there was an episode where J.J. threatened Michael and Michael simply shoved him out of the way.
