Default Should The 3 Stooges on DVD be Counted as ...

TV shows on DVD or Movies on DVD.

When they originally aired, they were in the movie theaters. They started their 20 minute "shorts" in 1934 and ended in 1959. However, since the Stooges air on TV, would that make them able to count in the TV section or the movie section. My dad grew up with the Stooges on TV.

I'm just wondering if I should count those DVDs as TV or Movies. Help me, please!

You know what I would like, the Stooges to be re-released in the theaters.

Did the Stooges only do shorts??

Because if so, you're stuck.
I still dont know whether to consider my "Walt Disney Treasures" as Movie DVDs or TVDVDs.... so I just keep them completely seperate.

If you're being technical, I'd say they should be considered as movie-on-dvd as opposed to tv-on-dvd. It's a similar situation with the Looney Tunes shorts, we may know them all from tv but they were theatrical releases first. Sometimes I'm torn between considering the Looney Tunes Golden Collection a tv dvd or not, but technically, it's theatrical.

They did 190 shorts from 1934-1959. In the early 1960's, they made theatrical movies. In 1965, they came to TV in color, with their cartoon series. Moe, Larry and Shemp did a 1949 pilot for television called "Jerks of All Trades." It was never picked up. It has, however made it's way to DVD, which I own.

Theatrical Movies are obviously Movie DVDs.
The cartoon and pilot -- TVDVDs.

As for the shorts, if you remember them as airing like a TV show -- then they're TVDVDs.
If you're old enough to have seen them in theaters, they're MovieDVDs
