Default Watching a show you dont like, just to see an actor/actress you do like??

Whether they be part of the regular cast, a recurring character, or a one-shot guest star....

Do you do this often??

There aren't many shows I dont like.... but I have watched Will & Grace several times just to see Woody Harrelson and Bebe Neuwirth guest star.

I dont detest Will & Grace, its just the female characters are annoying.
Jack and Will on the other hand -- very funny.

I've watched W&G for guests too.

I think if I like an actor, I will give their new tv shows a chance when they premiere, then 7 times out of 10 I don't really love the show. Arrested Development (which I initially tuned into for Portia De Rossi from Ally McBeal),Tru Calling (which I tuned in for to see Eliza Dushku from Buffy/Angel) and Nip/Tuck (which I watched for Julian McMahon from Charmed and Profiler) are the only recent examples that I actually watched more than 3 times.

I do that too, although I give most new shows a chance anyways.

For example, Charlie Sheen - Two and A Half Men (which I ended up liking)

and this fall....
John Goodman/Ed Asner - Center of the Universe
Jason Alexander - Listen Up

(all on CBS, coincidence? I think not.... they seem to be the network that always has actors that already hit the height of their career, into sitcoms that aren't as good as the original sitcom that made them stars

Perfect examples -- Bill Cosby going from TCS to Cosby and Ted Danson from Cheers to Becker)

after seeing the preview for Center Of The Universe, I'm kinda worried about John Goodman's health.

He's always been big, and you could tell a huge weight gain from early Roseanne to late Roseanne. But he's gained so much weight since late Roseanne that he almost looks unrecognizable now... I hope he gets help before it's too late.

I agree.
I felt the same way when I saw George Wendt at NBC's 75th Anniversary Special.
He was nearly twice the size he ever was on Cheers.
But apparently, its easy for him to both gain and loose weight. He would put on 75 pounds each TV season to play Norm, and then work it off on hiatus.

Hopefully John Goodman can do the same.

speaking of W&G and AD....

from TVGUIDE....
IF YOU CAN'T BEAT 'EM...: Turns out NBC isn't beneath a little petty theft itself. A month after Peacock brass accused Fox of stealing its boxing-show concept, NBC has burglarized Fox's talent pool and made off with Arrested Development scene-stealer Will Arnett — albeit temporarily. The actor, who plays misfit magician Gob on Fox's acclaimed satire, will appear on Will & Grace's Sept. 23 episode as Jack's dance foe. "They're vying for a job as [special guest star] Janet Jackson's backup dancer," explains exec producer Alex Herschlag. So how does Fox feel about sharing Arnett with crosstown rival NBC? "We're thrilled that Will's on two Emmy-nominated shows now," insists a network rep. In the meantime, don't be surprised to see Rosario cleaning toilets on North Shore during sweeps.

All the friggin time.

I actually like the episode most of the time. but I wouldn't necessarily watch the show 24/7.

In my collection, just for some actor's one-shot appearance-

Murder, She Wrote
Rawhide
MacGyver
Fantasy Island
Love Boat
Combat
Diagnosis Murder
Ironside
Andy Griffith Show
Ben Casey
Dragnet
Gidget
Hong Kong Phooey
Mama's Family
Angie
McMillan and Wife
McCloud
Outer Limits
Matlock
Police Story

And probably some others.

I liked Merlin Santana from a previous dramatic series he had been on called "Under One Roof" so I watched the Steve Harvey Show because he was on there, and even he wasn't enough to make me want to watch that show at times. Merlin will be best remembered for that show, but he was a lot better actor than the Steve Harvey Show ever let him display.

So yeah, I watch shows I don't like for a particular actor. That case is just one of many for me.

I've done this a few times with shows like W&G (which I stopped liking as of their last season but was caught up in their stunt casting) and Scrubs (which i do like, but was too lazy to watch regularly this past year).
