Default Keith

Was he a loser? I HATED when he joined the show with all of his tired impressions. Did he join the NFL after they started handing out signing bonuses? Even when you're drafted, don't you get some money upfront? Didn't he have any money put aside?

And who paid for the wedding? So he broke his leg or strained it or whatever. He still shoulda been on the bench, just not playing. AND getting a paycheck. That was a poor storyline.

Then to add insult to injury, dude moves into the projects with her family and has the nerve to have a drinking problem.

She shoulda dumped him...he didn't do anything but move from the kitchen to the couch in every episode. Thelma shouda went with Larry to California..at least he was head mechanic and had some dreams. Plus, he was better looking.

Not feeling Keith. Did anyone like him and if so, what did he bring to the show?

Keith brought NOTHING to the show; I thought it was quite silly for this individual to even be considered Thelma's husband; when he was completely out of her league...

I completely agree with you. Was he supposed to be comic relief? He was always somewhere about to go jogging. Who jogs in the projects? If he was well enough to run thru the streets of Chicago, then he could've gone to a training session to see if he could get his lazy self back on the team. Did dude even WORK while he was staying there?

geez....

I agree! Keith was annoying,at best! I didn't think he was funny and even if he couldn't play football,he could've still gotten some kind of job, possibly with the team.Answering phone calls, doing pr,hell, even being a towel boy(IDoes football have towel boys? I'm not a sports fan, obviously)There was no reason he and Thelma couldn't work full time and get a little apartment(even a studio) outside the projects...they had no kids tying them down.Thelma could've done WAY better!!!!!!!

The Show is Called Goodtimes with nothing but bad times.
95% of the time.

would it had been better if thelma marry larry working at the gas station

or better yet the african man who would have most likely taken another wife

Now with keith,

your right he really didn't bring to much to the show

but at point the show was running on empty

and trying to keep its head above water.

but thats they way they did shows back then.

And lets face it.

Thats why we all love them.

Peace

I think Solomon and I are the only two people on this board who liked Keith, but I can see why others don't. He was VERY unlikable in the drinking episode where he slapped Thelma (but kudos for having her hit him back!), and he did tend to moan and complain a lot. Still, he really did love Thelma, he was good with kids, and I like how he treated his mother-in-law with much love and respect (he always called Florida "Mom"). So he had his good points and bad points.

I actually did like some of his impressions, though they did get to be too much after awhile. I believe Ben Powers came up through the ranks of stand-up comedy/improv, much like Jimmie Walker did. Plus I thought BP was very cute and handsome...I too wonder whatever happened to him.

Very well said, catlover79!

You can add me and my mother to the list with you and Solomon. We also liked Keith, and I thought he was cute and an interesting character. I thought he and Thelma made a beautiful couple as well.
