Default Good Times for Halloween

Here in NY there is a huge parade through the Village that we've gone to the past couple of years. We always seem to have great ideas and costumes.
THIS YEAR, we will be going as the Good Times family. I'm going to give you some of my ideas to make everyone look authentic but would welcome addl response from all of the experts on more ideas and general feedback.

JJ-My husband will be him. He's tall and lean (not AS skinny, but can pull it off). He'll wear the denim fisherman hat, a tshirt that says DYNOMITE (anyone know where i can buy one, otherwise i'll have to make one), some bellbottoms and carry a paintbrush + pallet.

Florida-Don't have a lot for her here. Except a short afro, some costume jewelry (remember that HUGE orange necklace she use to wear whenever she got dressed up), some kind of old school smock dress, black patent leather purse and an apron. Need some help here...

Thelma-Have a friend who's a dead ringer, we'll put a mole on her face. Get her a huge afro and some 70s wear. But don't have any props for her. Need some help here....

Michael-He'll wear a Fight the Power t-shirt, we're going to make an army jacket for him and put some problack stuff on it, some jeans, some old school converse and he'll carry a picket sign with some slogan on it.

James-Since I don't think any of my people will be able to pull off his hair, they're going to wear one of those newboy caps he use to wear, a flannel plain button down and either some dickeys or some skin tight chords and some workboots (tims). They'll carry a newspaper and a beer can.

Wologna: With the exception of a crooked wig, possibly a fedora and some bell bottom suit with multiple chains...I don't know how else you would know it was her.

Penny: We MAY have a Penny. Going to give her a basic shirt, button down ratty sweater, some jeans, some buddies, ponytail with tendrils, bandaid on her forehead, bandage on her arm and she'll carry an iron.

Most people stop every so often and do a skit of some sort as they walk the route. So we're going to carry a boombox (most appropriate for Thelma I think to carry and she can dance and whatnot) that will not only play 70s music, but play the themesong on repeat...just in case people don't know who we are. We'll hit the pose in the painting at the start of the show every so often.

Any thoughts????

Not only do I not have anyone big enough to pull that off successfully but I also did not really like him.
Plus, none of my friends are willing to get a "man perm" and walk around with a plunger.

Welcome your thoughts!!

knl, I don't feel bad anymore. Your husband is tall and slim like me, LOL.

Tell me, can your Thelma dance? Make her move them hips like Thlema used to do. Have Thelma teach JJ to dance?

With Penny, trace an iron bottom around her right shoulder and back. .

Penny's mother- if there is any. Have her walk around all night with an iron in her hand.

my thelma is a DEAD RINGER and the body type is perfect. thelma use to always do that "get low to the ground grinding thing" or she was kicking her legs up somewhere. she was always somewhere dancing and listening to music.

Florida: Thelma, take Herietta to your room and play her some of your new records.

Thelma: But I don't have any new records, Ma.

James: Then take her back there and HUM the ones you don't have then.

Thelma: Um...ok. C'mon Henrietta, I got some really bad records you've probably never heard.

Henrietta cluthing her preg belly: Don't be too sure Thelma. I do get around you know?

Quick flash to Florida's expression. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

keep um coming.....

and i prefer tall and slim guys. you guys wear your clothes so well, especially suits. nothing like a dumpy short guy stuffed like a sausage in a suit. UGH. give me long, lean and mean dude anyday, honey.

How about Sweet Daddy Williams. A nice white hat and white suit with white shoes. The shirt has got to be blood red and so does his socks. Make sure his pants are a little flooded so you can see his socks and make the man strutttt.
