Default Season 1 Theme Song

How come in Syndication they never air the season 1 theme song that aired when the show aired on ABC, they air a shortened verson of season 2's theme in it's place... when i frist watched the series back on ABC i liked the season 1 theme but i have not seen it since the frist season back on ABC.

I was wondering that too. I wish they would keep the different versions with the season that they originally aired with. I've really enjoyed watching Home Improvement on TBS, but they've moved it back to 4:30pm and 5:00pm so I usually don't get to see a whole episode since I don't get home from work until 5:30. I'm very excited about the series coming to dvd. It will be nice to have the whole collection with no deleted scenes and some extra goodies.

Default Home Improvement Theme

I wish I knew why they don't use the whole theme anyway. Most shows do. It is a long theme. I've got the first verison theme, the shorter version when it aired sometime in 1992, looking for the longer one on a video download. I hope that is will be on the DVD set. Actually, the Syndication "Ploit" eposide, they had the music for it, but yet again they used the second verion. It don't look right. The font, and the color of the credits are different from season 2. Al isn't even in the first theme, nor is Wilson, there is just Tim and Jill standing in front of the Home Improvement House logo, and it falls down. Love the show, started watching it when it first aired, and can't wait to see it on DVD!

Because of time, if a show's theme song for a certain season is long, they use the syndicated version

Usually though , its not about it being too long , more about MORE COMMERCIALS = MORE MONEY

How can a theme song be too long? The show is 22 Minute , in a 30 Minute slot , It canot be too long can it.

To most networks even a 30 second theme song is too long, even that takes away from the almight dollar

Why do they bother with a theme tune then , why not just show a logo , and then run credits over the show , Or even better cut stuff out of the show (no wait , They already do that!)

Yeah, the second and third season's opening credits are basically a refined version of the first season's opening. That's probably the best way to put it, since the opening credits didn't get completely redone until the fourth season...
