Apprenticing

I would really like to get into apprenticing at a salon so I can get my license that way. Ive looked for schools all around here and the closests is about 90 min. away. I cant afford to do that because then Id have to cut back majorly at work and school would take about 10-14 months depending on what I did. When I went to nail school it was only 4 hours a night 3 days a week and I was only about 40 minutes away. Plus it was only for 15 weeks. Id love to apprentice, but I cant really seem to find anything.

Is that like being an assistant or something? That sucks that nothing is close to you...you'll find something eventually.

Yup. Thanks. Yeah basically its like working at a salon, but you learn stuff too instead of going to school and you get paid for it.

Not every place offers it though, but Id be willing to travel since itd also be my job.

I don't really know what I'm talking about, but...

Have you tried the last resort thing of picking up the phone book and calling and asking every salon within whatever distance you're willing to drive if they have apprenticeships? That'll get annoying after awhile, but it's an option I guess.
