Talking 25 years of the Facts of Life!!

It's amazing, the Facts of Life is officially 25 years old!! I mean, yeah, it was cancelled in 1988 in its 9th season as longest running sitcom of its time, but it never ceases to inspire and entertain future generations of fans!!

I remember ten years ago this weekend, they ran the Facts of Life Marathon on the USA network. It was the greatest.

Captain ABlairica, sorry to burst your bubble,to be real with you,
actually, Facts iof Life wasn't the longest running sitcom of it's time. Cheers was the official title holder as the fattest(eppisode wise) show ever, as well as the official sitcom of the 80's with the most seasons, a record breaking 11 seasons. Cheers has 11 seasons divided down into 275 eppisodes. Facts of Life in comparison had 9 seasons divided down into 209 eppisodes. That puts Cheers at a maximum of 28 eppisodes per season vs. FOL's maximum of 24 eppisodes per season.

But Ozzie and Harriette was from the 1950's and 1960's. Not the 1980's.

That's why I said "of its time", meaning the 80's. One of the longest running 80's sitcoms.

right. When FOL ended in 1988, it was the longest-running current sitcom at the time... Cheers only had 6 seasons at that point, so when FOL ended... it was the longest running sitcom of it's moment. Not of all time

Facts of Life had 200 episodes, not couting the Facts of Life Goes To Paris and Facts of Life Down Under, which were edited down to 4-part episodes each for reruns.

It's difficult to count the exact number of FOL episodes because at least one 1-hour show have been edited to 2 parts for syndicated reruns. But I do recall when they wrapped the 2nd hour of the final episode where Blair buys Eastland, the cast and crew were presented with a cake "Congratulations on 200 episodes" -- Charlotte Rae was invited to the wrap party and posed for the press, slicing the cake, alongside Sherrie Krenn, Lisa, Kim and Nancy. Sadly, Cloris,Mindy and Mackenzie were in none of the photos and did not seem to be in attendance.

I understood the first post as saying longest running situation comedy on the air at that time. I did not see it any other way.
