Default More Friggin Mistakes And Other Stuff

Season 1
1. That '70s Pilot

In the opening scene, the boys are looking at a Playboy centerfold, circa 1976. However, the magazine is perfect bound, not saddle stitched (stapled) as Playboys were at that time.
in the opening scene when they toast eric stealing something he is holding his beer upside down
In the scene where Eric steals two beers from the bar infront of Red. When Eric talks about getting the cruiser, he holds up two cans of beer. One is upsidedown, and the other is not. In the next cut both are upsidedown. Note also that the people in the background changes between the cuts.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2. Eric's Birthday

Donna has another sister named Valarie who is off at college mentioned in this pisode. When Kitty and Midge are in the kitchen, and Kitty is upset Midge gives her a book of poetry and tells her that she used it to get through a tough time when Valarie went off to college. Valarie is never mentiond again. Donna has another sister named Tina that is mentiond in the episode Erics' Burger Job. So apparently Bob and Midge had three kids.
When Kitty and Red return home as Eric and Donna are on the side porch with the candle, the Vista Cruiser is in the garage, but Laurie said she was taking it earlier when she left.
Laurie didn't take the Vista Cruiser, Red said it wasn't safe enough so he let her take the Toyota

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6. The Keg

When everyone is in the pool and Kelso convinces Jackie that having a party is a bonus - Jackie is the one who raises her arm in support instead of Kelso. You can tell as the sleeve is orange and Kelso is wearing a yellow armed shirt.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

8. Drive-In

When Eric and Donna are on the hood of the Vista Cruiser, their heads go through the non-existent windshield.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

10. Sunday, Bloody Sunday

When Kitty goes into the basement and asks for a ciggerette - the sleeve of the person that hands her the ciggerette does not match that of any of the characters clothing.
When they are eating dinner Eric says "Grandma, that's Donna. You've known her for 16 years." But how could she have known her for 16 years, when the Pinciottis moved in when Eric and Donna were 7? That would make for 10 years.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

12. The Best Christmas Ever

When Donna is looking at the picture Hyde gives her, the frame is upside down.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

15. That Wrestling Show

Unfortunately this story (probably like other episodes) is historically inaccurate. In the 1970's, professional wrestling was still divided into regional areas. The WWWF was located in the northeastern United States. There was another based in the mid-west, another in the south and there were probably others. It wasn't until the early 1980's when the WWWF's promoter Vince McMahon, broke the boundaries and took wrestling to a national level.
The Rock, playing father Rocky Johnson, uses the phrase "sports entertainment". However, that euphemism wasn't invented until the 1990s.
Red takes the whole gang to a World Wrestling Federation (WWF) match. In the '70s, the federation was called the World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

18. The Career Day

Kitty is shown delivering a baby but she's not qualified to deliver a baby since she's only a nurse.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

19. Prom Night

In the scene where kitty and midge are talking about work there is a box of krispy kreme donuts on the counter. The logo that is on the box was not used on krispy kreme boxes until the mid 80's.
When Mrs. Clark is singing "I will Survive", she's using a wireless microphone. Definitely not possible in the '70's.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

21. Water Tower

when Eric and his family are eating dinner, and he starts imagining Red and Kitty naked, you can see that Kitty is wearing a tube top, and is not actually naked

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

22. Punk Chick

Continuity glitch: This episode was suppose to air before #22 (1x22) "The Water Tower". Because in this episode where Eric tries to talk some sense into Hyde about moving to NY he speaks of "we were going to paint a pot-leaf on the water-tower" something they already did in the episode before.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

25. The Good Son

At the 17 or 18 minute mark of the show, Hyde is doing dishes, Eric is behind him with a carton of milk, and Fez & Kelso sit at the counter as Kelso peels a banana. While Eric is griping that Hyde does too many chores around the house and makes him look bad to Red, Kelso takes a bite from that banana. You can plainly see that when he does this be breaks the banana, but when it cuts back a few scenes later, the banana isn't broken anymore. Small and minor goof, but still noticeable.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Season 2
26. Garage Sale

The reason for the garage sale was that Red lost his job, but that doesn't actually happen until the next episode.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

33. Donna and Eric Sleepover

Forman's Spider-Man sheets Designs are of the spider-man from the late 1990's Cartoon

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Season 3
63. Fez Gets the Girl

In the scene when Donna's trying to talk Fez into asking Caroline out, the doritos behind them have a bag design that came out in 1987 (ish). Doritos didn't come out until 1987.
Doritos came out long before 1987. They were first made in 1966.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

74. Canadian Road Trip

While at the mountie station, at one point Kelso is standing in front of a map of Canada, with Nunavit drawn on it. Nunavit was created in 1999 by splitting Northwest Territories in half, and would not have been shown on a map in the '70s.
The guys sing "O Canada". They sing the line "From far and wide, O Canada". This line wasn't added until 1981.
When the guys are stopped at the border, a sign in the background lists the distances to some Canadian cities. On the sign, Winnipeg is misspelled as "Winnepeg".

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Season 4
81. Bye-Bye Basement

Hyde must have gone into the future to get his Spiderman pillowcase because it has the Spiderman logo from the 1990's on it not the 1970's one.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

84. Donna's Story

Jackie enters the basement and say: "Oh my God Donna, great story!" while she is holding the newspaper by the sides. In the next shot, while the gang is laughing, she is now holding it by the bottom.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

90. Eric's Hot Cousin

When Kitty asks Red for a cat Red is reading a copy of Time magazine. He closes the magazine and puts it down on his knee while he tells her why he doesn't want a cat in the house but in the next shot the magazine is back in his hands and open to where it was before he closed it and put it down as though he never did it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

96. Class Picture

The actors playing Eric, Hyde and Kelso at a younger age are all credited as playing them at the age of 7 and 13 but we found out earlier in "Halloween"(episode #30) that Kelso is actually a year older than them so the actors playing him at the age of 7 and 13 should have been credited as playing him at the age of 8 and 14.
Jackie is younger than the other characters so while the actors and actress are credited as playing them at the age of 13 she is credited as playing her at the age of 12 but while the other actors and actress are credited as playing them at the age of 7 she's credited as playing her at the age of 5 when should of been credited as playing her at the age of 6.
In episode #1 "Pilot" Donna says "you could have had me when I was four". But in this episode they first met when they where seven.
Kelso makes a really big deal about how he never got to see Donna's breasts, but that's not true, because the six of them went skinny dipping together in "Hyde Moves In"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

103. Love, Wisconsin Style

Eric Mentions Sue ellen from Dallas in a drunken stupor. However, even taking into account the time that's past since the series began, Dallas had not yet made its 1978 premier

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Season 5
104. Going to California

When Annette goes to cool off, she picks up a pail of water to dump over herself, but she is already soaking wet.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

107. Heartbreaker (2) (a.k.a. Kitty's Parents Come to Visit)

During the flashback scenes of times when Hyde hit Kelso in the eye, Hyde had his beard in all of them. Since all of the first four episodes are in a continuous timeframe, those scenes could not have happened since Kelso came back from California. However, if they had happened before, Hyde would not have had the beard yet.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

109. Over the Hills and Far Away

When the girls go to Marquette the signs say GO GOLDEN EAGLES, however before the mid-1990's Marquette's nickname was the Warriors.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

112. Black Dog (a.k.a. Ow, My Eye)

Red gets Mad when Eric says Nixon was a crook, but in the episode "Streaking", Red asks President Ford why he pardoned Nixon

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

114. The Girl I Love

Donna: "I feel like I'm on Jeopardy!" According to Jeopardy.com, the show debuted (in syndication) in 1984.
Actually the Art Fleming hosted version of Jeopardy premiered in 1964

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

115. Misty Mountain Hop (a.k.a. Jackie's Cabin)

When Red and Eric were talking in the driveway there was a van right next to them. The tail lights shown on that particular model van were only produced in the mid 80's and later.
I guess I should back up my claim regarding the rear tail lights on the van: Chevy van rear lights up to 1985 were recessed: http://www.ranchochevy.com/new_arrivals/1i0493.html Chevy van rear lights 1986 and later were 'bubbled' (like shown in the show): http://www.ranchochevy.com/new_arrivals/1c0130.html I realize that these pics are not the best way to show you this, but you will see the lights are clearly different and are obvious here as it was when I first saw the epoisode. How can a mid 80's van be in a show about life in the late 70's Hope all this helped.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

117. Babe I'm Gonna Leave You (a.k.a. Valentine's Day)

They bring up starburst but starburst never came around until the 80's.
Actually, Starburst came out in 1976 in the U.S. The original flavors were orange, lemon, lime, and strawberry. Cherry was added in the 80s though.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

118. When the Levee Breaks (a.k.a. Eric and Donna Play House)

In this episode, the Formans' address is shown as 418. In the episode "Kelso's Career", Donna's house, which is next door, has the address 831.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

121. Hey Hey What Can I Do (a.k.a. Job Fair)

Eric says Red is "the only boss he's ever had." What about Eric's job at Fatso Burger?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

124. Trampled Under Foot (a.k.a. Fez Gets Dumped)

Kelso is wearing a t-shirt with Dirty Harry on it saying "Go Ahead, Make My Day". Sudden Impact was the first Dirty Harry movie to use that expression and that film didn't come out until 1983.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

128. Celebration Day (a.k.a. Graduation)

Fez has to leave the U.S. because his visa expires upon his graduation. However, in the Canadian Road Trip episode from Season 3, Fez already had a green card, which means he is a U.S. permanent resident and does not any visas.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Season 6
131. Magic Bus

this shows erics birthday... yet the time this episode occurs is not in march...im not certain what episode its in (most likely 1st season) eric states his birthday is in MARCH

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

136. I'm A Boy

The liscence plate after the opening credits had the year 79 (in yellow text with a black background), but the liscence plate at the end of the show had the year 78 (in white text with a blue background).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

137. Young Man Blues

Eric makes a reference to being able to glue Boba Fett's Jetpack back on, but Boba Fett didn't make an appearance until 1980's Empire Strikes Back so that would place this episode in the 80s.
When Eric is showing Red the Star Wars figures, the figure of the Han Solo was released in the 90's, and not the one from the 70's. And the flip open Falcon was also released in the 90's.
The original Boba Fett was one that had to be sent away for, after collecting several product labels. And it originally was suppose to have a missle launching part in the back, but after a child choke on a missile fired from a Battlestar Galactia ship, the Boba Fett missiles were glued into the backpack. And Boba Fett was first introduced not in the Empire Strikes Back movie, but in the Star Wars Holiday special, which was broadcasted during on CBS during the Thanksgiving Day holiday in 1978.
Eric calls Darth Vader the "Dark Lord of the Sith" yet the term "sith" wasn't used until "Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

138. A Legal Matter

Fez already had a green card in the Season 3 episode "Canadian Road Trip."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

139. I Can See For Miles

When Kelso tries to take Red's car, he uses all kinds of words and phrases he shouldn't even know! suddenly he knows words like 'suffice'?!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

144. Man With Money

Red's heart monitor is on the right wrist before the commercial break (as he comes home). Later it's on the left. I suppose he could have switched it at some point, but can those things be worn on either wrist, and are you allowed to remove it at all, even briefly?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

147. Substitute

During the episode, Eric pulls out his Star Wars carrying case & toys- yet, all the figures and case were released in the 90's, not the 70's.
Eric's Star Wars action figure collection is incredibily anachronistic. First, the Millennium Falcon carrying case is a modern era case. The 1979 case was a vinyl box with two stackable trays. Second, a glimpse of the figures in the case reveals a number of characters he shouldn't even know about in 1979. Looking past the fact that some of the figures are the 1997 remakes of Episode IV characters, his collection includes a Yoda that appears to be from Episode I (released in 1999, and Yoda as a character was unknown until Episode V in 1980), a Chewbacca with c-3PO parts and mesh bag (from Episode V) a B-Wing Pilot (From Episode VI, released in 1983), and an Emperor Figure (also from Episode VI). Unless Forman can travel into the future, he should not have these figures. The only era-correct figures he had appeared to be the Darth Vader and an R2-D2. Also, the B-Wing pilot appeared to be the vintage 1983 variety, not the current ones. Also, he said he had 24 figures in the case. Yet when he opened the case, he had only 8 (not counting the missing Vader figure).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

148. Squeezebox

More anachronistic Star Wars toys: Eric's box of models contains a TIE Bomber, which was not inroduced until "Empire Strikes Back," which was released in 1980, a year after the show is currently set. The toy of the TIE Bomber was not released until two or three years ago. Also, the "models" appear to be the pre-assembled plastic toys released by Kenner. The X-Wing Eric is working on appears to be one of the modern X-Wing toys.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

152. Going Mobile

Donna says that maybe people getting married should have cold feet since "half of all marriages end in divorce." That's true... in 2004. In 1979, however, roughly 1 in 4 marriages ended in divorce.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

153. The Seeker

Fez mentions about how a tree doesn't hold his juice box while he spies on Donna; juice boxes were not created until around 1985/1986, and not that late 70's.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
lol there r lots of mistakes they made

One that's pretty prevalent throughout the series is Red Foreman drinking Budweiser from cans that not only have punch tops (pull tabs were the norm until the mid-1980s) but also with the BUDWEISER logo on its side (the current design, which came out in 2000).

That's a great list.

I'm glad you mentioned my biggest pet peeve about the show, the modern Star Wars toys that Eric plays with.

I believe you are mistaken about Darth Vader not being known as a Sith Lord. I remember reading some news articles and stories released after the first Star Wars Movie (Episode 4) that referred to Vader as a "Dark Lord of the Sith," although it was never really explained what that meant until the 90's.
