Exterior Clips??? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

In several episodes they show the characters of the show outside Cheers, and in some episodes, an entire scene will be outside of the bar. I was just wondering if these were taken on location or a very similar set? (I was especailly wondering this in the episode where Frasier is going to kill himself, because they show him in a fourth/fifth story window)

Some were done on a set in California and some were taken on location in Beantown.

I've been to the bar in Boston.
And if you ever plan on going -- be prepared.

They're damn proud of Frasier trying to kill himself.

yea, most times you saw the exterior of "Cheers" (or the Bull and Finch, really), they really are in Boston. and like barwars said, the (real) bar employees loved when they came out 2 film those scenes. there was one w/ the Kennedys, and one w/ John Kerry. Mike Dukakis was in one, and 'Cheers: the Motion Picture' had a clip of the front, and down the stairs. sam tells the whole 11-yr story of Cheers to a Salvation Army guy, and Frasier has 2 take him away. sam catches norm wishing Vera a 15th anniversary or somethin. one has norm and cliff throwing water balloons down onto woody, standing down on beacon street. i know theres more, but i cant think of ne.

one time they DID use a set was in "Baby Balk." the season 9 finale, Uncle Sam Wants You, i think, ended w/ Rebecca going up the stairs. in Baby Balk, the season 10 premiere, they start w/ the same scene, but its extended, and they actually show Sam going after Rebecca up the stairs, the shot being from the top of the stairs. u can tell its fake, just by the lightning (plus, the video quality when they were really outside the real bar is not as good as usual, probably cuz they took more portable cameras or somethin)
