My favorite lines are usually the put-downs from Dorothy to Rose.
Examples: No, Rose -I'm upset because Marblehead Manor is only on once a week.
No Rose, she's upset because they keep changing the taste of coke.
No Rose, I'm upset because they havent rerun The facts of life goes to Australia!
No, Rose, I'm upset because if Sonny Bono is elected mayor of Palm Springs he's going to make everyone wear fur vests... I could go on and on,but u get the point.
I also love when Sophia meets Blanche's overweight daughter Becky and says "what did she model - car covers?" in full earshot of Becky.

Dorothy: Can you make that surprised look?
Blanche: Why not i've pretended to be a virgin at least a dozen times.

Hands down, my favorite character was Dorothy. Too bad they softened her up until she was just pathetic in the final season.

I have two favorite quotes/scenes:

1) The girls have decided to make home-made Christmas gifts instead of buying stuff at a store. Blanche makes the girls a calendar of the "Men of Blanche's Boudoir." The girls glance through it. Dorothy thumbs through, finds a picture that shocks her, closes the calendar and says:

DOROTHY: WHOAAA!
BLANCHE: September?
DOROTHY: Yep.
SOPHIA: I'm surprised you were able to walk in October.

(FUNNIEST LINE EVER IMHO).

2) Dorothy and Rose are trying to install a toilet in the bathroom.
Rose is reading from an instruction manual.

ROSE: Grab the valve tightly with your hand.

DOROTHY: (shoving her arm up into a gap in the wall) Okay.

ROSE: Turn the valve counterclockwise until (turning a page in the manual) scum gathers on your elbow joint.

DOROTHY recoils in horror and looks at Rose as if she was a creature from another planet. The look on Bea Arthur's face brought me to tears the first few times I watched that scene.

I couldn't pick a favorite character, but one of my favorite lines has always been from the episode "Before and After"

Rose: And next to every departure it said 'Destination: Heaven'. My first though was, what a great title for a movie! My second thought was DAMN I'm dead!

And the whole scene where Blanche is so tired from staying up so late writing and gets the egg yolks confused with "little balls of sunshine"

If it's the same episode you are referring to, it contains this little gem a few minutes later. Might be another episode but this is also one of my favorite lines:

Dorothy and Sophia are out on the lanai, resting on the chairs. Blanche comes out all flustered:

BLANCHE: Girls...I am stuck. I have writer's block. It is the worst feeling in the world.

SOPHIA: Try 10 days without a bowel movement sometime.

DOROTHY gives her the look. Classic!!!

My favorite is Dorothy. She has some of the funniest lines. All these posts have been cracking me up. I have to say, there is nothing better than the Dorothy/Rose and Blanche/Sophia interactions. They have me rolling on the floor sometimes.
