Default other DVD possibilities

Earlier someone had mentioned that they would like to see a "missing" UM DVD come out. I have been thinking a little bit about this issue, and I am wondering about the appropriateness of putting such stories on DVD. I suppose the same question could be raised about murders. What I mean is that it may be insensitive to put such stories on DVD for the purpose of selling them. I have yet to form a strong opinion about this issue, but I'd be interested to hear what all of you think.

Thanks

I totally agree. THey should put out one DVD called "Missing persons" focusing on longtime missing persons (Nyleen Kay Marshall, Tara Calico, etc) and a "Unsolved Murders" DVD as well.

My opinion is I had a family member or friend that was missing, I would want to get their face and story out no matter what venue. Do you think they have to get permission from the people involved in the story to be on a dvd, or does the permission they gave UM initially cover it?

Default I agree

Only good could come of putting out these DVDs. Crimes can't be solved if no one remembers, or knows about them.

Arrow Missing

A Missing DVD should be essential and a no brainer for the production company. It would help further the investigations in some of these bizzare disappearance cases. I hope that with the "Bizzare Murders" cases if some of the cases are unsolved (and I assume they will include a lot that aren't yet resolved) that somewhere either on the DVD or packaging they provide contact information where a viewer can get in contact with either UM staffers or police forces etc.

Later.

I was the one who said they should put out a DVD for just missing or muders or disapearances. From many polls and iscussions that have been posted here its clear that a lot of people dont have much interest in swamp monsters and aliens. If it were me missing a loved one as some of you just said, i wouldnt care who made a nickle off posting my missing loved one's story or photo as long as it helped bring them home. BUT...I think taking their feelings into consideration is a smart thing too

Thanks for responding. I guess I've come to a similar conclusion as all of you. It would be only good to publicize missing cases through the DVDs. Whether this will happen or not I cannot say. I don't know if special permission would be necessary to put such cases on DVD. I am guessing that it would be. If so, would the families involved be paid any royalties?

they've done stuff on the Green river killer, zodiac, son of sam, torso slayer (who elliot ness couldn't find), unibomber and several lesser known serial killers as well

I dont know if they have 360 minutes worth of footage but they easily have enoug for a 2 disc dvd

Wow..until I saw your list of all the serial killers that UM has portrayed, I hadnt realized they'd covered so many of them?? The tape/DVD would actually probably benefit students studyinmg criminalistic behavior.
