Default Out of the Blue vs 60 Minutes??????

I can't believe ABC woud take a new show like Out of the Blue and place it in the same Time slot as 60 Minutes, one of the top TV shows on TV during 1979. And ABC had the nerve to cancel Out of the Blue 4 months later because of poor ratings. What the hell did they expect when OOTB went up against a Popular TV Show?-LOL.

i think the thiking was to counterprogram with something for the kids but if i remember right it was a bad move on abc;s part and the reason it didnt make sense for them to put out of the blue in the kiddie slot was disney was in that same slot on nbc you dont counterprogram one family show with another for the record i watched out of the blue instaed of disney at 8 years old i was tired of disney at that point

speaking of Out Of The Blue, was it a spin off from Happy Days or Mork & Mindy?

Out of the Blue was not a spinoff. It just crossover with Mork and Mindy and Happy Days. Mork appeared on Out of the Blue as a guest in sept of 1979 and The character from Out of the Blue, Random appeared on Happy Days as a guest in sept of 1979.

The last new episode must have been on October 21, 1979 because the actual last telecast was December 16, 1979 which was a repeat. I actually had luck in finding one episode of this show.

Maybe the show should have aired on Saturday Mornings since it was TRULY a kid's program. watched this show for the first time 2 weeks ago and It was not a show that fell into the entertainment category. I guess it would have been a plus to receive the Out of the Blue episode woth Mork as a Guest since it was so bad. And the Opening Credits was WORSE. It went-"OUT THE BLUE, OUT OF THE BLUE, OUT OF THE BLUE, OUT OF THE BLUE-LOL

Well the show was for kids 4-9-LOL The show had two crossovers with two HIT Sitcoms in the first month of it's debut and the ratings was still horrible.

Maybe they should have crossed over Out of the Blue with Laverne and Shirley since the crossovers with Happy Days and Mork and Mindy didn't work-lol
