Hey everyone!
I'm a huge fan of this great tv series.. And I still watch reruns.. Can't miss even one episode! I think the final 3 episodes were pretty weak.. I mean, in the "pop goes the question" episode, when Steve was about to leave to Russia, Laura wouldn't have agreed to marry Steve if he weren't leaving to Russia.. So if he had stayed, Laura would never find out how she feels for about him.. If you know what I mean. It was pretty clear in the episode.. Because when Steve told her: "To Russia, on my think.. I'm going to visit my parents".. Laura just asked him: "They know you're coming"? She didn't ask: "But I wanna marry you! Don't go (Not even for a few weeks)"! Or something similar.. And after she agreed to marry him, well at least she could give him a big kiss! Not some poor hug.. And the last 2 episodes (Lost in Space) weren't showing too much affection from Laura.. In the conclusion, I guess the final episodes weren't good enough to show how Steve really deserves Laura.. What do you think?

Not much you can do when they drop a bomb on you all of a sudden and say make it a wrap this is the last episode. They all thought there was going to be another season.
But at the last minute it was cancelled so no knew ahead of time that is was going to be cancelled, had they know it was going to be cancelled way before that they could have done the last episode different or had something else done, like Laura and Steve getting married. Same way with Different Strokes, it was cancelled on the spot without any warning either. Shame when they cancell show that way. Don't know why they don't give shows a little more time to make a proper ending. Also Charles in Charge's final episode bit the big one. To find out it was all just a dream ruined it all for me(just my opnion) |

Ditto w/what y'all said! Step By Step & Who's The Boss were cancelled @ the last minute 2. Though SBS was moved from 1 channel 2 another while Tony Danza wanted 2 end the show, much like Ted Danson did on Cheers, now that I think about it. (well, Ted did play Sam Malone for 11 years, no wonder he wanted 2 stop playing Sam)

To tell you the truth I did not care about the whole Steve and Laura wedding. So much complaints about not seeing their wedding, I just did not care. I was interested in "Family Matters" that was what the show was supposed to be about not "The Steve Loves Laura Show" They should have listened to Jo-Marie Payton. I hate to say this but CBS was right in giving it the ax. The show was already done for way before that and Season 9 was too soap operish: you had Laura having feeling for Stefan and Steve, then Steve breaking up with Myra and Myra spying on him and trying to get him back, then you had Laura choosing between Stefan and Steve and she picks Steve. In my opinion it did not make sense that it took Steve "improving" himself for Laura to have feelings for him. The romantic relationship between Steve and Laura seemed forced.

This is why it seems eight is the magic number for sitcoms. Cosby Show ended after eight years. Full House after eight years. Roseanne should have ended after eight years. Family Matters should have probably ended at eight years instead of jumping networks for a final season.

Look @ Cheers, it ran 11 years & so did Frasier, Friends, Happy Days & a few other shows that ran over a decade!

Many people do say that the best shows are on for 1 too many seasons. The last season of Laverne and Shirley didn't even have Shirley. The last season of Happy Days was pretty bad, most of the characters were gone, Joanie and Chachi just came back after a failed spin-off and Potsie was pretty much ignored that year. The last season of Family Matters was pretty bad since the show was focusing way too much on Steve and Stefan and the original Harriette left the show.

Same thing with Head Of The Class, it should have ended after 4 seasons, gifted students in high school for 5 yrs doesn't make much sense, plus the star of the show left.

the idea of taking sucessful abc shows that had already peaked and puttered out and moving them to cbs was a dumb idea abc should have made final episodes for all these shows and they should have ended there.

No, they didn't. They almost did and Lily was too hesitant.

Yeah, I was about to say, selling the house sounds like a proper finale.
