Any updates on this rape case?

I can't remember the woman's name, but she was canoeing with her young son when she was accosted by two men who may have been Hispanic. They raped and terrorized her for hours, and even forced her son to watch. This story made me very angry, and I hope these guys are caught if they have not been already. Anyone know of any updates?

I think I recall this case. For some reason I remember that the suspects were very different in appearance, one was tanned and buff with a crew cut and the other was thin with long blonde hair. I swear there was a movie that followed this story line, maybe with Glenn Close or? with the words "River" in the title. I cant believe they were never caught. It stinks.

I remember this episode. It showed the boy with a toy or something, and while one man raped the mother, the other man distracted the boy.

The movie you are thinking of is Where the River Runs Black, but I don't think it was inspired by this case. The movie was made in the early 80s, and it was the story of a boy and his mother who lived in an isolated area of the Amazon (the boy's father was a missionary who had died). Anyway, the boy witnessed his mother's murder, then lived alone for awhile at their home. Later, he was caught and brought to a city to live in an orphan home. When the boy saw the man who murdered his mother, he set out for revenge. Excellent movie, but purely fictional.
