Arrow Report: Olsen Twins' College Pad Cost $7M

Here is an article taken from wnbc.com:

Quote:
REPORT: OLSEN TWINS' COLLEGE PAD COST $7M

The Olsen Twins apparently won't be hanging in the dorm with other students at New York University this fall.

According to the New York Times, Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen are spending more than $7 million for four connecting penthouses in Greenwich Village where they'll stay while they go to school.

The paper said each other master bedroom will have an adjoining study, bathroom and walk-in closet. The twins can also have friends stay with them in two guest bedrooms.

The performers, who began their career sharing a role on the hit sitcom "Full House", built a home video and merchandising dynasty while growing up. In May, they released their first feature film, "New York Minute" (interview) in theatres and celebrated their 18th birthday not long after.

New surfaced in June that Mary-Kate Olsen began a stay in a treatment center, which her publicist Michael Pagnotta said was for "health-related issue." The twins' offical Website acknowledged later that it she was being treated for an eating disorder.

Mary-Kate Olsen was released from treatment center in late July roughly 45 days.

They arent spoiled, in fact, they are the youngest self made multi-millionaires in history. If anything, their parents are spoiled like hell.

They caught a lucky break with that role in Full House, but from their they made a plethora if ****ty movies, bad tv shows, and worthless merchandise.

California Law states that most of the money made by a child actor is supposed to be put into a trust fund, and they get all of it when they turn 18.

They are the co-presidents of MaryKateAndAshley inc, it is estimated that if you put everything together, they may be worth a billion dollars.

If I was them, I would have a niceass penthouse too.

Man...I have to lay off the E! and VH1

Four apartments are a bit much, but maybe it's all the apartments on the floor so they won't be bothered as much? They can afford to spend the 7 million...those apartments will last them for the next 4 or 5 years while they're at college and by then they will have made up the money for that. They're expected to be worth a billion in a few years if sales stay up.

Not all freshman are required to stay on campus, although many are. I'm headed off to college next week as a freshman and I'm not required to stay in the dorm. But they did look into the dorms at NYU and they agreed not to stay there because of all the chaos they caused. I'm sure NYU agreed that was a better choice as well...they probably want their students to be focusing on their academics rather than focusing on spending time with them because they're famous or whatever. I also have read articles stating that NYU may have wanted them to stay off campus in an apartment because they're known for heavy partying (Mary-Kate more than Ashley).

Either way I think the apartments are a fine choice. Four of them, maybe not...they're friends can sleep on the couch. And besides, I also read an article saying that they didn't get the apartments due to their partying as well. I think it was on the E! website.

Homes

They didn't pay $7 million for their NYC apartments, they paid $3.5 and $3.7 for their Bel Air mansion.

if I was in their position I'd totally get an off campus apartment as soon as possible

f the dorms

I just moved out of the dorms at my school last semester and I'm now in a group house (a considerably more humble living arrangement then the Olsens I'm sure)... and goddamn am I glad to be out of those f'n dorms. kids yelling their asses off at 3, 4AM when you got a 9AM class and you want to get some sleep, who needs that, seriously. I'm living with graduate students now, that'll be alot better.

plus the dorms are a ripoff, like $5000 a year for the shoddiest construction ever, walls so paper thin you could hear everything in the next room. f that.
