Default Stupid, Worthless Lifetime...

It's official...they've cancelled the show....

'The Division' Taken Off Duty at Lifetime
By Kimberly Speight

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Lifetime has shut down "The Division," canceling the drama series after four seasons.

The series, which starred Nancy McKeon and Bonnie Bedelia as detectives in the San Francisco Police Dept., averaged 2 million total viewers in its fourth season, down from an average of 2.5 million in the previous season, according to Nielsen Media Research.

"... (W)e felt that the show had, as all television programs eventually do, run its course, and it was time to offer our viewers another option," said a Lifetime spokesman.

He added that several pilots are in development at the network but it was too early to say what might fill the Sunday-night slot occupied by "The Division."

In other Lifetime news, the cable network has ordered five more episodes of the recently retooled "Missing" in addition to its current 13-episode order.

"Missing," in its second season, centers on an FBI (news - web sites) agent (Caterina Scorsone) who uses her telepathic abilities to help her locate missing persons. The mystery drama series was retooled ahead of its second-season bow, getting a new name (it was previously titled "1-800-Missing") and an almost entirely new cast. Scorsone's original co-star, Gloria Reuben, exited after the first season. Vivica A. Fox, Mark Consuelos and Justin Louis joined the cast.

"Missing" has averaged 2.2 million total viewers since its second-season premiere July 10.

Yeah, thanks......that's already been posted here, but thanks for telling us. Even before it was posted the first time, it didn't surprise me......I'd been expecting it, with the way the show lost viewers after you-know-who left, and then how the season 4 finale ended...

Ooops, sorry, Snowfall -- I'm selectively blind, apparently. I hadn't seen the previous post on this, but thank you for letting me know. I just saw it in a friend's paper, read it, freaked out, came online, verified it, and marched on out here to notify and vent. LoL.

I think, for the most part, I was expecting it, as well, but really hoping they wouldn't make such a stupid decision.

InspectorExstead -- Lifetime SUCKS. I'm completely with you on that one !! But, the suits are in charge and there is nothing any of us can do about it...even if we are the people who count as far as ratings go....

I hate that they just ended it...with so much left to close. I need to know how some stuff ends up on the show.

I totally agree with you. I thought the show had at least another year left and I never imagined they would toss it into the trash so abruptly. In the words of Stephanie Judith Tanner: "How RUDE!" I need to find out how the show ended since my VCR didn't tape the last couple of episodes (vacations suck). I knew something was up when Lifetime staggered the last couple of them together so closely. If they stop showing re-runs...I will be one might pissed chica. But they wouldn't do that, right? They're still showing Any Day Now...

They made an Any Day Now 2 hour special to kinda close things up. Maybe they will do that with TD.

I still can't believe Lifetime canceled the show after giving the green light to start production of the 5th season. I thought the division was the best show on lifetime.

It was. Lifetime is just too stupid to see that.

The only reason they cancel other shows is because a main character wants to leave. All they have to do with TD is make the writing better. Bring a character on that people actually LIKE (*cough* Amy Jo Johnson)

You know, I actually didn't have a lot of problems with Amy Jo...mainly because I'm sure they would've developed her character further if there had been more time and we would've gotten used to her (or...*gasp*...even liked her ! ). However, just like the new gal on Missing, she just didn't fit the "tough" role very well. She was trying too hard. In her case though, she did seem to immerse herself in the role and get comfortable with it a bit more than the woman (I think her name is Vivica ? I'm sorry, I'm not sure) on Missing (in case you were wondering, yes, I apparently do have a lot of issues to be fixated so much on a character change, but, honestly, Gloria fit the role so much better !! LoL.)

I do think the writing this season wasn't up-to-par, and, since two characters (CD and Jinny) most people are drawn to didn't have any/much of a story-line, it just turned people off from the show. In all honesty, I liked Jinny screwed up...darker character that balanced out the darker theme of the show really well. And, Nancy's acting abilities really complimented that character's flaws so realistically and delicately well. I think Raina was just a bit too bouncy-hyper (that'll be my new word for the day.... ) for my taste, Nate didn't get any attention, and I couldn't really relate to anything the Cap was going through, so Jinny and CD were my favourites, and, even though I kept watching, the season was an over-all disappointment to me (though, it had its trade-mark awesome moments, nevertheless.)

I'll still miss the show terribly, and hate Lifetime passionately for treating this show like ABC treated Once and Again, but...well, there is nothing anyone can do about it.

Oh, who am I kidding ? Sunday nights will suck without the show....

Is it just me or did Magda/Lisa not have a storyline at all? I mean at the beginning of the season, she admitted the affair and Gabe left. That was the only thing she had going on.

I got sick of hearing about Magda's affair. Last season it was a good story line but this season she kept going on and on about it becoming really annoying.
