"i think i'm in care with her."
definitely the worst night of david addison's life. after finding out the hidden desires in maddies heart, he drafts bert to help him follow her. he gets on the wrong path and follows another woman who had stolen maddies hat and cloak. between the rain, getting knocked out by a champange bottle, waking up with a dead guy beside him, jumping into a dumpster, and arrested, it takes the murdering woman in jail to help david realize he loves maddie. so he goes to find her to let her know...only to find sam crawford answer her door. the episode changes the series here. from now on, the focus is more on dave and maddie instead of the cases they worked on. this is the true turning point. (to me it is). donna dixon and john mccook guest star in this one. rating: 9 |

Boy, I sure love this episode. It was just a great combination of humor, pathos, romance, adventure.... as a viewer it was like we were on a roller coaster ride...from suspense as we watched David follow Maddie all over town to jubilantly cheering when he finally realized he was about to get his act together and go tell her how he really felt.....to disappointment and sympathy at what happens at the very end.
The very closing scene which is scored by Since I Fell for You by Al Jarreau just really sealed the whole deal for me. To use the very same song that David had first danced with Maddie to as his heart is breaking as he walks away from the door....well, that really added to the emotion of the scene. Isn't Donna Dixon just super and fascinating to watch in this episode. And did you notice Robert Wuhl playing the crazy guy in the jail cell with David? Oh yeah! This episode gets a 10 from me.... and yes, the series does take a turn! Now we are cookin' with gas!! |

Donna Dixon sure is a "looker". I did notice Robert Wuhl in the jail scene. I assume Donna is still married to Dan Ackroyd - the last I heard (on Regis) was that they had 3(?) daughters. Aren't Dan and Bruce good friends? Avalon Club comes to mind when I think of those two.
My favorite scene from this episode is set in Maddie's office. I love it when Maddie tells Bruce that she is "in the mood" for some out of character stuff. His reaction is priceless: "You're damn right..." "My chastity belt is pinching me." ![]() Of course, who didn't cry along with David during the final scene! Wow - that was a powerful scene. Every time I hear that song, I think of David and Maddie. |

what liked about the jail scene, was the "niagra" part. dave loves the three stooges. but he is so bummed out, he is aggrivated by the guy doing part of a three stooges movie. i thought that was a good jab at dave to make his night and mood feel even worse.
the ending couldn't have been better. and the touch of the pouring down rain shows more the desperation in dave to get to maddie. even a downpour like that, would not keep him away from her. one thing i have always liked about sam is that he is a good guy. he never gets defensive about things. he is always helpful and kind. yet we know dave would lke to kill him. i noticed the guy in the jail, but didn't know his name. but i recognized him from a lot of other shows. |

What I like about this episode was the build up. After two years of flirting, David's appalled that Maddie might hook up with someone else. (The scenes in the bar are hysterical.) He denies there's anything between them to Bert, then he denies it when Donna Dixon tells him he's in love with Maddie. It literally takes a police interrogation for him to finally admit that he thinks maybe he's 'in care' with her. After all that, that last scene just about breaks your heart!

I loved this episode. The "in care with her" scene is one of my all-time favorites, and of course, the last scene broke my heart as well. This was certainly a turning point in the series.

I always thought that Donna Dixon (beautiful woman BTW)had a rather strange accent!
Is she English? Especially when she pronounces "Tell Her" |

I believe she's originally from Florida(?). I think she might have a slight speech impediment. She's had "affected speech" for as long as I can remember.

all i was doing was minding my own business-getting ready to do a long list of chores-i put this tape in to see if moonlighting had jumped the shark. now my to do list is cancelled and my sunday afternoon will be spent seeing what happens on moonlighting.
very funny when maddie was telling david that she was alone and surrounded at the same time- and the most dangerous word of all (for david) 'reckless'. david was so surprised that it was funny. the three stooges in the jail scene-'slowly i turned around, step by step, inch by inch'...poor david. it's the first time i wanted to tell the three stooges to knock it off too. honestly you could have knocked me over with a feather when another man answered maddies door. and this might make me truly hated among moonlighting fans (of which i'm one), but the thought that came to my mind was 'oh, goodbye david'. i feel he doesn't stand a chance. this other guy is so good looking, smooth, and standing in maddies doorway, buttoning his shirt. and david just looked like a temporary good for right now guy. it did seem out of character to me for david to walk away, really out of character for any man to walk away without at least letting the woman know. the words to the background song helped explain to me what was going on in davids mind. when you just give love and never get love you better let love depart--- can't get you out of my heart. he might be in care-but i don't think he's quite ready yet. this to me makes his feelings for maddie particularily intense. it's not just sex-he's thinking permanent. i really thought this was the episode david and maddie were going to make love. wrong. now what? |

I also think Donna Dixon is beautiful -- but I always thought the way she spoke changed the way her career went. |

kismet
I had never heard she was from Florida. So I did an IMDB search on her and found this out: She was raised in Lorton, VA, USA. Her father owned the local nightclub "Hillbilly Heaven" So certainly you had more of a clue about this than I did, even though you had FL not VA pegged. |
