Thumbs up Collateral

Saw it this afternoon & it was one of the BEST movies I've seen this year. Edge of the seat from beginning to end. Tom Cruise is an excellent bad guy. Jamie Foxx was great as usual. Throughout the movie I kept seeing actors that I recognized from various episodes of Miami Vice, then at the end it said directed by Michael Mann and I put 2 & 2 together (Mann produced Miami Vice). It's nice to see Mann uses actors from MV in his movies. The movie is fairly long, but if you like action & great acting - I definately recommend you check out "Collateral."

I want to check this out. I was reading various reviews online earlier and it got a lot of positive notices. Is Tom Cruise's performance similar to the "playing against type" move that Denzel Washington did for Training Day? It'd be nice to see Tom get an Oscar one day, seeing how he was robbed for Born On The Fourth of July.

Tom's character/performance immediately put me in mind of Denzel in Training Day. They did a great job of making Tom look a little aged in this one. You should most definately check it out Vashti.

I wanna check it out too. Although I'm surprised by the reactions to Tom Cruise's performance. I thought Jamie Foxx's look more oscar quality but he'll probably get a nom for Ray. I didn't think Cruise's last movie (The Last Samurai) was any good.

Jazz said "from various episodes", not one of the stars. Bruce McGill was on Miami Vice.

Thank you Vashti, I did say from "various episodes" of Miami Vice. If one of the MV regulars had been in the film I would have mentioned them by name. Bruce McGill was in one of the most popular episodes of Miami Vice - "Out Where the Buses Don't Run" from season 2. I also recognized one the bad guys in the club scene from MV as well. And don't call me a liar.

I just saw Collateral today and loved it. Cruise was great as a bad guy. Michael Mann has directed a number of great films over the years like Thief, Manhunter, Heat and The Insider, and I would say he did it again with Collateral. The best movie I've seen this year.

I saw the movie today, and it was great. I was at the edge of my seat from beginning to end.
