there have been so many big-screen adaptations of old tv shows in the past decade that it's hard to keep track.
Which ones did you like and any that you really hated? I really liked the Brady Bunch movies, ironic because I never really liked the show. I thought the Charlie's Angels movies were fun, but at the same time, it seemed like McG has never actually watched an episode of the series because each episode of CA was a nice mystery that builds up... the movies are nothing but Matrix-like action sequences (I don't recall very many action sequences on the tv series... especially not with all 3 women at once) after action sequences and the plots to neither movie actually made sense. It just kinda irked me that one of my friends said he likes the movies better than the tv show because the tv show took itself seriously (even tho it was fun still), while the movies are nothing but action fight sequences fluff with zero plot. I have never seen the tv series SWAT... but I'm sure it was better than the movie. |

I enjoyed The Brady Bunch ones too.
Charlie's Angels....yuck. Difficult to sit through. Starsky and Hutch was pretty fun. |

I'm hoping the Bewitched movie is going to be good.

For the most part, I don't like any tv to movie adaptations because it's really Hollywood going with something with a built in audience instead of trying to come up with fresh, new stories to tell. If there's any I liked, it's the Brady Bunch movies. Growing up a fan of the show, it was fun seeing references in the movie.
I never saw the first Charlie's Angels film, but I sat through most of Full Throttle and thought it was absolutely one of the worst movies I ever saw. Seeing Jaclyn Smith was the best thing about it. I've stayed away from others, I had no interest in seeing Scooby Doo. Haven't seen SWAT yet, but it's on one of the cable channels, so I'll check it out eventually. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with the live action Fat Albert movie, hopefully they'll be able to capture some of the charm of the animated series. |

On imdb a while ago it said for the sequel to Starsky and Hutch, Ben Stiller wanted to include Charlie's Angels in it as well, but Drew Barrymore was the only one who was willing to do it. Sounded like a bad idea anyway. The film was good, but I've never seen the tv show.
Movie adaptations of shows seem pointless- Charlies Angels and Starsky and Hutch (though I've never seen an ep- i've seen enough clips already) seem like spoofs of the tv shows. The only chance of a movie adaptation of films working well is if the original cast is about and the show has just went off air- I mean, a Sex and the City movie is a good idea now- but not in 20 years with a different cast! I hope the 'Bewitched' and 'I Dream of Jeannie' movies will be good- the tv shows were both great. As for Dukes of Hazzard- it doesn't sound like it will be good, as well as The Six Million Dollar Man. Movie adaptations of 'Dynasty', 'Dallas', 'The A-Team', and 'Knight Rider' are all in the works too. Dynasty and Dallas- soap operas on film? I'm wondering how it'll work- maybe it'll be a spoof making fun of shoulder pads and bitch fights. |

Executive producer usually means nothing at all- you can get a credit as executive producer just for owning the film rights (example- Edgar J Scherick, has been dead 5 years and still got billed as executive producer for the new Stepford Wives)- odds are, the original's creators will have little control. That, and that it's being directed by the same person who directed 'Super Troopers', and that Ashton Kutcher and Paul Walker are rumoured to have been cast (and Britney Spears was at one point considered for the role of Daisy)- doesn't sound too good.

Drew and Crispin!!!

Ok, about the CA films. I am obsessed with Drew and Crispin, so I obviously loved these movies. I've only seen like, 3 episodes of the original TV Show, so I'm not the best judge of whether it was better or worse than the movies.
