I was posting it on the "Superman" board yesterday that Jackson Beck, the radio announcer for "Superman" and the voice of Bluto in more than 300 Popeye cartoons died over the weekend.
He was 92 years old. He was best known as I said, the voice of Bluto in Popeye cartoons from 1944 until 1957 until he ended its entire run. He went on to do other voices in a number of animated shows like "Matty's Funnies with Beany & Cecil", "King Leonardo & his Short Subjects", "Tennesse Tuxedo & his Tales" and does narrator for the animated TV version of "Superman" back in the late 60's as well as he did other stuff. I hope we will miss Jackson Beck. He was a great legend. (RIP)

He did commercials for GI Joe action figures and did a voice-over for Kellogg's Cocoa Frosted Flakes a few years ago. He'll be greatly missed.

Jackson Beck also did voice-overs for Chesterfield cigarette commercials in the '50s and early '60s. "They satisfy."
