Post Something I Heard on Unsolved Mysteries..

Today I watched Unsolved Mysteries and they were doing something on a missing woman. Detectives found bones, a skull, and a bag of human flesh in their (the woman and her husband) back yard. They then showed a scene where the husband had been asked about the bones and such they found in his back yard and his reply was, "The skull and bone remnants found in my yard are as big a mystery as the disappearance of my wife."

I mean seriously, how can people be so stupid?

I saw it too. Dude, you never know if someone tried to set that guy up. That person that called the police station and said "You need to check the back yard because her husband killed her" could very well have been the person who actually killed her. How easy is it to kill someone and put their bones in their own back yard? You can't convict someone on that alone.

Your speaking of the 1997 case of Monika Rizzo, and her husband Leonard Rizzo, from San Antonio Texas. Infact Ive done research on this case for a few papers.
When Monika was first reported missing on May 5 1997 her parents Bill and Monika McKinney thought that Monika had fled the state.
On August 5 1997 archeologist spent hours digging in the earth behind the Rizzos house. While her parents sat in front of the house crying and waiting for news, bones of atleast 3 human bodies were found. Investigators confirmed later that some of the bones dug up were infact that of Monika Rizzo.
On Sat May 29 1999 (BEFORE THE SKULL RESULTS) Leonard held his then girlfriend hostage in his home and assaulted her. Swat teams arrived and were able to take down Leonard Rizzo by shooting him.
On Wed. June 23 1999 investigators publicly announced that that the skull found in the Rizzos backyard was infact a genetic match to his wife Monika Rizzo.
Theres a lot of very interesting information about this case. I was unable to EVER find out if Leonard Rizzo ever infact did go to JAIL. I called newspapers, and local news outlets. If anyone finds out any new information ID LOVE to hear it. I hope this info helps out!

I found a website that has posted some info on this "man" Rizzo.

Leonard Rizzo, whose notoriety as the suspect in the death of his wife has kept him in the public eye for nearly three years, was handed a two-year prison sentence Friday in an unrelated aggravated assault.

The sentence was the minimum prison time allowed for a crime that had a range of punishment up to 20 years. Because Rizzo, 48, has been in jail awaiting trial since his May 29, 1999 arrest, he will be released in about 14 months, lead prosecutor Jeff Mulliner said.

Rizzo was...

A jury panel, eight of its members women, likely will decide today how many years, if any, Leonard Rizzo will spend in prison for torturing a woman with a hammer and knife.

Rizzo, 48, was found guilty of aggravated assault after the 12 jurors deliberated 3-1/2 hours Thursday. The punishment range is two to 20 years.

His conviction, both prosecutors and defense attorney Pat Hancock acknowledged, was based on the horrific and graphic testimony of Susan McDaniel, a liar with...

The state's key witness in Leonard Rizzo's assault trial testified Wednesday that he intended to remove parts of her body.

Courtroom spectators stirred when Susan McDaniel claimed Rizzo told her he would dismember her and make her eat her own flesh until she died.

Rizzo, 48, looking fit 11 months after being shot in the abdomen at the climax of a four-hour armed standoff with police, is accused in the aggravated assault of McDaniel, 39.

The assault, prosecutor Jeff...

Bone fragments police discovered more than two years ago at a South Side residence and finally identified as belonging to missing Monika Rizzo were interred Tuesday at Mission Burial Park South.

"This is not the end of it," her father, Bill McKinney, said after a graveside service attended by a handful of friends and relatives.

Among the mourners was Leonard Rizzo, the victim's inmate husband who has become a suspect in her death.

McKinney said he didn't...

John Tedesco Express-News Staff Writer San Antonio Express-News

A skull discovered two years ago among hundreds of chopped-up bones in Leonard Rizzo's back yard is a genetic match with his missing wife, Monika, police announced Wednesday.

After a lengthy investigation marked by contradictory DNA tests and erroneous public statements by police, the final question of Monika Rizzo's fate was answered this week by an advanced DNA test conducted in Rockville, Md.

But while the test confirms what police long have suspected, no one has been...
