This was an interesting episode. It was an obvious parody of James Bond movies, but it also seemed to borrow from Edgar Allan Poe's "The Pit and the Pendulum," in which Poe's narrrator, imprisoned in Toledo, Spain, is almost slashed to death by a blade on a pendulum, and he's about to fall into a pit when he is rescued by the French army.

It's also the first of many episodes in which Fred and Barney encounter a supervillain with Wilma and Betty usually unaware of what's happening to them. I never could understand that plot device.

As for Doctor Sinister himself. . .he's a seemingly unrealistic character, a freelance madman trying to take over the world and destroy civilization. Ludicrous, right? But what exactly is Osama bin Laden?

There's also a bit of "The Island of Dr. Moreau" in here, I believe.

It's also a James Bond reference in a way,(just remembered the original poster's reference here), more specifically the voluptuous Madame Yes (she)."I'm much too important to be captured".(Voiced by Jean Vanderpyl, I believe.)

And that Dr.Sinister was one hell of a scary designed guy!
