I thought that this would make for an interesting topic. Another thread gave me this idea. Do you think Kramer was genuinely funny OR was he just placed in the right situations on a funny show?

Did you ever see "Fridays" or "Young Drs. in Love"??
His timing, his facial expressions, and all his quirks make him hilarious in everything he appears in. Giddy-up. |

Michael Richards and the Kramer role were great. It of course ended up being the combo of the whole show that made him & the role shine. But Richards was no slouch at the whole Kramer schtick thing, exellent work. Not over rated... most prob just think of him as some [guy who played this] zany character on a sitcom, when in fact his work on Seinfeld was a consumate, text book workshop on that type of physical comedy day after day, year after year.
TGirl, Good post. Long time ago but I remember Michael McKean (Squiggy) from Young Drs In Love. You might hit this thread, a time consuming post (including what I just edited to make all the pics work again) : The Archives: 'Fridays' & Sein Connection

Cool thread, Maestro. I had no idea that Rabbi Glickman was a "Fridays" regular.
. . . by the way, Michael McKean played "Lenny" -- not Squiggy

There was no way Kramer was over rated. Kramer added a certain silliness to the show that you just couldn't get from the other characters.

The way he delivered his one liners, and his great facial and body expressions are classic. Kramer,to me, was not overated.
