Here comes another Motown 45th Anniversary Artists Avatar of the Week. Last week, I discussed about Smokey and his group, the Miracles. But now, I will be highlighting Smokey Robinson and his solo years after he left the Miracles. After he left the Miracles in 1972, Smokey Robinson went on to become a successful solo career. His first single "Baby Come Close" was a bonified R&B hit after his departure from the Miracles. Throughout the 1970's he made so many hits during his period like "Quiet Storm", "Baby That's Backatcha" and those other ones. It was not until the fall of 1979, Smokey Robinson released the single "Crusin'", it was a smash hit. Then came "Being With You" in 1981 along with those two successful hits "Just to See Her" and "One Heartbeat" in 1987. Smokey Robinson made the best singer in the Motown industry. That's a fact!
