Though I've never been able to take much of a liking to disco, I've always had a soft spot for the Bee Gees. Barry, Robin and the late Maurice Gibb were simply great songwriters. The brothers had a catchy sound and recorded countless classic songs starting from the late 1960's and ending last year with the unfortunite death of Maurice Gibb.
For those of you who also like the Bee Gees, I'm interested in knowing what your favorite album is. The catch is that you have to stick with the regular albums and not any of the greatest hits collections (though if a greatest hits is all you own then it's okay to go with it). Also, the soundtracks to Saturday Night Fever and Stayin' Alvie don't count because the brothers only recorded some of the songs on them (of course, if say the SNF soundtrack is the only album you own containing the Bee Gees, then put it down). |

They were certainly a great vocal group, and worthy competition for The Beach Boys.

I've loved them since Saturday Night Fever(boy, am I showing my age!). I wasn't too familiar with them before that, though, and didn't realize that they had been around for so long. I know you said SNF doesn't count because they only had a few songs, but I can't help myself!! I'm just sorry I never got to see them live in concert. |

outside of their 1998 live album and 2001 2-disc Greatest Hits package, the only Bee Gees cd's I own are 1967's Bee Gees' First (got it for like $2.99 at a discount outlet) and 1997's Still Waters. Still Waters does have some good stuff on it.

I realized that many people would probably just have the greatest hits collections. But as with my Doors and Guns N' Roses threads I wanted to avoid the greatest hits albums since they are the ones that most people would choose. And how can you really blame them, it is nice to have the hits all in one place. But I don't feel a hits collection can be considered because it features songs recorded over a period of years.
