Where did Henry Jefferson sleep?

During the first two years when Henry lived in the Jeffersons house and we never saw George, where did he sleep? We know the house had the same floor plan as the Bunker home, only in reverse - meaning it had only two bedrooms. Since George and Louise had one bedroom, who had the other? Did Henry share a room with Lionel? Did one of them sleep downstairs?

If you really want to whack your brain, we later found out (when Gary Coleman guest starred on the Jeffersons) that he was Henry's son and that Henry had a wife named Olive. When Henry lived with George, Louise, and Lionel, where were Olive and his son?

I know these questions was never addressed but I thought it would be fun to speculate. (I anxiously await your thoughts on this, Solomon!)

I don't think it was ever mentioned but in the episode-Henry's Farewell this scene was the closest we ever got to finding out where Henry slept

Archie: You must be looking forward to getting your own bedroom

Lionel: I always had my own bedroom Mr. Bunker

Archie: Well where's Henry been sleeping uo in the attic?

Lionel: No he got his own room too

Archie: Wait a minute, you got your bedroom, Henry got his bedroom, your mother got their bedroom. There are only two bedrooms in that house

Lionel: No we got three bedrooms

Archie: You telling me your house is bigger than mine?

Lionel: Sure you didn;t know that Mr. Bunker, I got a room, he got a room, ALL GOD"s CHILDREN GOT A ROOM!!-LOL LOL

I love that scene between Archie and Lionel. But i don;t think it was ever mentioned.

Thanks, I forgot about that scene. Remember we never saw the whole Jefferson house until Mike and Gloria moved in, but it seemed to have only two bedrooms. Lionel could have been putting Archie on as usual.

Yeah he was putting Archie On, their House only had two bedrooms. We didn't see the inside of the Jeffersons House at all until Sherman Hemsley arrived. And we would only see the Kitchen and that's it.

True!We never ever saw the livingroom until the Stivics moved into the house.Although the house had been said to have had the same layout as the Bunker home only reversed,I found the kitchen to look much the same,but the livingroom was actually quite different.It appeared to be smaller than the Bunker's livingroom.

You are right. It damm sure was reversed.

After the Stivics moved out to California,we occasionally saw the inside of Barney Hefner's house,which looked just like the Stivic house,with a few minor changes here and there.Though it was not supposed to be the same house,it's obvious that the same set interior was used for both homes on the show.

They showed Irene's house in the 6th season opener. Did it also look similar to the Bunkers?

Yeah, it was funny to see the Jefferson/Stivic set used for Barney's house. It's not unrealistic for two homes in the same neighborhood to have the same floorplan, but how many of them hav the same wallpaper and paint and carpeting?

They started using that set for Barney's house only after Mike and Gloria left the show. But later in that final season, the set was again used for the Jefferson house when Edith was showing it to Polly and Ed Lewis for Louise Jefferson (I guess George forgot to tell her that he sold the house to the Bambinis at the end of the previous year, when the Stivics moved west). The next season, on "Archie Bunker's Place", that set was back to being used as Barney's house.

We only saw the kitchen of Irene's house,but yes it also looked simular to the Bunker home.In fact it appeared the same set that had been previously used for the Jefferson home.

I could never figure out the reason for the character of Henry Jefferson. Why?? And where was Sherman all this time? This I never could figure out. Sherman was MUCH better than Mel Stewart.

Henry was George's brother. And the producers were looking for the right guy to play louise husband and it was a 2 year search. So that's why you saw Henry Jefferson.

When Sherman Hemsley made his first appearance on All in the Family, the actor who played Henry Jefferson, (Mel Stewart) that was his last appearance.
That episode is called-"Henry's Farewell"
