Default A Second Chance

This week I gave M*A*S*H a much deserved second chance and ended up liking it. I still dont like the OR scenes, but other than that -- very entertaining.

I also tryed some episodes of Everybody Loves Raymond on TBS -- but I still agree with my previous thoughts on the show. I dont like it.

Eventually, I plan on giving The Nanny a second chance as well.

What shows have you given second chances to?
Did your opinion change?? Or were you right in the first place??

I gave Wings a second chance and still didn't get into it. It's certainly not a bad show - it made me laugh, but I just didn't like it enough to watch it regularly.

The first time I heard of The Nanny I thought it was going to be the stupidest show ever. I watched one episode and thought it was just plain stupid. But then I watched a few more and realized it's just a fun show. I find it's not the type of show where you laugh at the jokes - you laugh more at the situations and the characters themselves. The best thing about it is that it's unpretentious. It's just fun.

I also tried giving Becker a second chance...and that didn't work.

I have yet to give M*A*S*H a second chance.

back when "Seinfeld" first started, I didn't like it. The same with "Friends", and "Cheers" but then I started watching "Seinfeld and "Friends" in their 3rd seasons and they became "must see" favorites of mine.

I also didn't like "Cheers" at first, but then I started watching the reruns and became hooked on it. Then when Kirstie Alley joined the cast, it also became a "must see" favorite of mine.

(I'm not the only one. I remember seeing George Wendt on Letterman once when she had just started, and he was saying their audience had increased by 75% that season)

I hated Hogan's Heroes at first. I went awhile without watching, went back, and now it's a fav.

There have been a few shows I loved as a kid/teen that I don't really like anymore. Duck Tales is one.

Roseanne I hated it when it first came out, now I catch my self watching it on N@N and actually enjoying the second time around.

The Nanny I tried watching it the original run, and thought it was okay, the other day I flipped to Lifetime and the Nanny was on, and I fell in love with it instantly.

I have tried to give Frasier a second chance, but for the life of me I don't find Kelsey funny at all, IMO he was much funnier on Cheers.

Seinfeld, I have tried to watch on TBS but I absolutely loathe the show.

When I was in high school in the late 1980s (and 1990, for that matter) I never cared at all for The Andy Griffith Show, but after finding it on cable in the late 1990s I became a fan.

Boomerang effect: When I was a toddler I loved The Brady Bunch. Then, for whatever reason, when I started school I couldn't stand it! I remember a friend in twelfth grade singing, "Here's the story ... I forgot my homework" just like the theme song! During my sophomore year of college a roommate decided to watch The Brady Bunch, and I joined him. The episode du jour was "The Cincinnati Kids", when the Bradys went to Kings Island, an amusement park just outside the Queen City. A while later I found myself watching reruns. Unfortunately that did not last, but the show found a home in June 1998, when Nick at Nite decided to incorporate it into their schedule. I have been a fan ever since.

Well, maybe (Im not trying to pressure anything).... it should be watched in a different light. For example -- dont try to find Kelsey as the funny one.
For example, I know nobody that thinks Jerry is the funniest character on Seinfeld.
And Im pretty sure nobody thinks Sam as the funniest on Cheers.

Ensemble shows (which end up having a star somehow).... usually have funnier supporting characters than leads -- thats why I like them so much.

I hated Barney Miller; then 18 months ago, I decided to give the show a chance, and ended up loving the show, now it is one of my favorites....

I've tried, but I don't really care much for the rest of the characters. I like Niles okay, and their dad, Daphne is wishwashy, and the other(can't think of her name) don't care much for at all.

Same way with Seinfeld, the only character worth watching on Seinfeld is Kramer.
