Today I was talking to her about Evanescence and she said I can not go to any of their performances until i'm 18 because she's concerned about the "Weird goth people"

who go to them. Plus she's trying to turn me into a prep and she told me if I say the word goth in her presence she'll take away the computer. it's almost if she'd stop loving me if I turned goth.

it really pisses me off how she constantly descriminates against gothic people. not like i am trying to be goth, but i feel like it is extremely mean to descriminate on goths just because of how they dress

she also says that all people with depression are low-life people who need to get more social

Thats pretty harsh. The thing about saying goth in front of her seems a little extreme

Alot of people discriminate against goths etc., most people are scared of them! That thing about people who are depressed are low life people, seems pretty unfair, alot of people can just become depressed.

I also hate when people think depression isn't a serious problem. The only people who understand depression are those with it. I had a friend who seemed to have depression and I was the only one who understood him.

I've never known anyone with depression but likes most people I'm down sometimes.

I re-read your first post about your mom not loving you if you turned goth, well maybe she just thinks goths are people who are depressed and cause trouble

Some people are depressed because they have difficulty socialising.

Over here, discrimination against goths is very bad. In the US, you probably have to go all out to be a goth- makeup and stuff, but here, wearing all black has you labelled a goth. I know some 'goths' and a few times people just shout 'goths' or tease them.

It's just a different lifestyle- everyone's minds work different- some people are happy as preps, some aren't. In fact- what you should do to piss of your mom is, if you have a rocky horror cast near you- start going to rocky horror in fishnets instead!

goths scare me. i walked in hot topic a few weeks ago and just got stared at...screw them, just because i dont look like a freak i cant go into their store? im better than that.. and wtf with all these parents being so neorotic....but i guess its better than having those bratty kids you see running around

I don't know. I have a red and black Evanescence picture on my desktop (it will be my next avatar) and I am into goth music. My mom is afraid I'll become goth and she is against them.
