I have no reason to apologize for my opinion about Debra Barone, especially since I back it up with supporting documentation.

However, there is no question that the Debra fans support Debra with undeserved loyalty.

Today, the "cuddling" episode was telecast in my part of the country, and the Debra fans applauded her for a display of juvenile behavior. A reasonable person would not interpret as heroic the smothering of a bag of jelly doughnuts with a kitchen utensil, but Debra fans.....

What's so rude about my expressing negative opinions about a character? Especially since I back my opinions with references to scenes in ELR. Message Boards are a forum for expressing opinions.

Brian Damage, it is possible Patricia Heaton was made by ELR. It remains to be seen what she can accomplish without ELR.

Patricia Heaton was a 38 year-old without a significant acting career when ELR started. She still needs to prove herself after ELR. I'm not contending that Heaton has to be ashamed of her ELR career, but ELR is the only significant notch on her ledger.

Emmys can be over-rated. For instance, Peter Boyle is an actor with much more versatility than Patricia Heaton, but he is stranded in a much tougher field. Boyle has successfully played many diversified roles in a career encompassing more than 30 years. It remains to be seen if Patricia Heaton can effectively play more than Debra clones.

If the Emmys were college football conferences Patricia Heaton would be in the Missouri Valley Conference while Peter Boyle would be in the Big 12. Generally a team that finishes third in one of the Big 12's two divisions is better than the team that wins the Missouri Valley Conference.

A part of Heaton's success in the Emmys is her good fortune to be in a comparatively weak field.

Brian Damage, you can boast about Emmys to your heart's content, I just think Emmys are deceiving because the fields aren't necessarily equal.
