Default Anyone Think these 1970 Shows will not sell much on DVD? Bob Newhart, Alice, and

One Day at a Time? I see Bob Newhart struggling in sales if released on DVD. Maybe Alice will sell but Newhart I can;t see

I think The Bob Newhart Show would sell a good amount of DVDs. Definately not The Simpsons or Sex and the City numbers.... but on par with other 70s shows.

I think "The Bob Newhart show" would. Not sure about the others.

I don't think The Bob Newhart Show will sell that well due to the excessive amount of the appeal lost. Hardly any of my friends and their friends know about this show or the actor. I don't know, I just think it's not that popular enough for it to be on DVD.

How was an "excessive amount of the appeal lost"? Did Mr. Newhart do something so abhorrent that he's no longer a beloved TV personality? If you mean that he hasn't had a show on the air since the latest batch of teenagers has been old enough to watch (except the short-lived George & Leo), I wouldn't call that a loss of appeal. There are plenty of people over the age of twenty whose minds are still clear enough to fondly remember Bob, Newhart and, yes, even waaaaay back to The Bob Newhart Show. I've been hoping for years that his shows will be released on DVD -- particularly the one from the '70s. If it ever does become available, I'll be first in line to buy every season.

So that's why TV Land created a statue in Chicago, lol? It's one of the most well written shows of all time. If someone doesn't know who Bob Newhart is, they must be living under a rock or are a fetus still. I think Bob Newhart would sell on DVD, nothing spectacular, but probably Barney Miller levels. Same goes for One Day at a Time. I'm not sure about Alice. It's a great show, but it doesn't come to mind when buying DVDs.

Did anybody catch Bob Newhart on Letterman last night??
It was great. Bob Newhart is the greatest TV personality of alltime, IMO.

One Day At A Time would definitely, absolutely, positively sell.

At least one copy.

To me.

The Bob Newhart Show would definitely sell well on DVD.

Newhart is a revered comic legend and I guarantee you the second people saw an advertisement for the show being released on DVD they would not only be nostalgic for it, but ready to buy.

I would be on line.

I think it would sell but only if it was advertised a lot so people know more about it. I think that's one of the major reasons why There hasn't been any release of The Mary Tyler Moore Show, from what I've heard, they aren't making any more season sets of that show because it didn't sell enough. If a studio wants them to be known more and they want a lot of copies of their TV DVDs sold, then they need to advertise. I rarely see any ads on TV that advertise classic shows; all I see are current shows like CSI Miami. Advertising on TV is the one key, in my opinion, to better sales, since people would find out about the product as opposed to just going online.

I think if a DVD of the Bob Newhart Show was released; the DVD would do very well in sales, also with One Day at a Time...

It would nice to see the Second Season DVD released of Barney Miller around the same time as they show's 30th Anniversary next January...
