'Will & Grace''s Fall Forecast
July 28, 2004 When the cast of "Will & Grace" returns to work on Wednesday, Aug. 4, it will be business as usual now that DEBRA MESSING is back from maternity leave. But when it comes to their alter egos -- Will (ERIC McCORMACK), Grace (Debra), Jack (SEAN HAYES) and Karen (MEGAN MULLALLY) -- watch out, because things are really shaking up! On tonight's ET, our MARK STEINES goes three-on-one with the cast of the Emmy-nominated comedy series to find out what's new for the upcoming season. And what did he learn? Grace will be dealing with the failure of her marriage, while Will is in a relationship! And for the first time, both Grace and Karen will be single at the same time. Stay tuned as they set each other up on dates -- and possibly fall for the same guy. HARRY CONNICK JR. will return for at least one show to wrap up his divorce with Grace, and BOBBY CANNAVALE's back as Will's main squeeze. And as hard as it may be to picture Jack in a professional setting, the producers revealed that he will become a television executive on a new gay TV network. But not to worry. Jack will still be Jack, so despite the fact that he will finally be earning a respectable income, he'll still be broke all the time. "The writers have been so amazing over the course of the years," Debra tells ET. "They never really tell us where the characters are going long-term, but they have short-term arcs. This year is going to be really fun: There's a new dynamic that we're looking forward to." Debra is also looking forward to being able to bring her son to work. "Now that we are in our seventh season, we work 20-30 hours a week," the Emmy-winning actress says. "They are going to have one of the guest dressing rooms next to mine made into a nursery, so I am going to be able to take Roman to work with me." Also coming up for "Will & Grace," which was nominated for nine Emmys this year, is a compilation CD, Will & Grace: Let The Music Out, available in stores on Tuesday, Sept. 14. On it Eric and Megan duet with BARRY MANILOW and CARLY SIMON respectively, and there are songs by the BACON BROTHERS, CHER, ELTON JOHN and JENNIFER LOPEZ, all of whom have guest starred on the series. "I recorded a song for the upcoming soundtrack that I co-wrote with Barry Manilow, who plays on the track and I sing it," Eric shares. "It's called 'Living With Grace,' and it's a song from Will's perspective, seven years in looking back at his relationship with this woman. It was like a musical fantasy camp for me." For more "Will & Grace" updates, tune in to tonight's ET, then catch the series' seventh season when it debuts on Thursday, Sept. 16. |
