Default Something I found out about the last season of WBK over the weekend

Did anyone know thaT Della Reese played a subsitute Teacher for the Sweathoggs in the 78-79 season? I think it was only one episode and it's hard for me to imagine Della playing that role.lol

Actually, it was a couple episodes.

The talent show episode: the one with Beau and Arnold as judges.

The Arnold's drinking problem episode.

Those are the only two I remember seeing her in.

You're right, I've seen them on tape and on cable, years ago.

It is hard to imagine her being on that show.

Well, there was a connection there...James Komack, who produced "Welcome back, Kotter" also produced "Chico and the Man" on NBC, where Della Reese was a supporting character on that show, so when "Chico" went off the air, Komack must have wanted to keep working with Ms. Reese, hence the guest spots on "Kotter".

Yeah that makes a lot of sense, especially since CATM was cancelled in the spring of 1978

Because the fourth season episodes were near the end,(and some of the worse shows), maybe that why they stopped.

TV Land did show the fourth season of Welcome Back, Kotter, because I have a couple of episodes where Della Reese was a teacher; the fourth season was when Arnold became engaged and got married at the end...

You are not missing much, season 4 was pretty bad...Too much of the Beau character...

I guess they tried to peddle him off as the next Vinnie Barbarino.

The tired, but they did not succeed, I personally thought Beau was annoying, and not as smooth and cool as Vinnie, and was definitely an unwelcome addition to the cast of Welcome Back, Kotter...
