Need Help With A Recent Episode - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

A few days ago, they showed this segment about a black guy who used to be a teacher at a Junior College that was on a search for spiritual truth. He ended up joining this cult ran by this fat lady, and a bunch of its members ended up mysteriously dying. The guy was planning on taking a vacation to India for a couple weeks, but his parents went to his apartment and found that he hadn't left at all. They found a couple of crazy notes he had written that seemed like suicide notes, although they were barely legible. His parents searched and found some sort of poisonous liquid in his drawer, too. His body has never been found, and they were questioning whether he had been killed or whether he just disappeared somewhere. Does anyone remember the name of the guy, or the name of the lady who ran the cult? I seem to remember the names "Maxwell" and "Huffman". I'm not sure if I'm right or not. But boy, they showed a picture of the lady who was the leader of the cult, and they showed a close up of her eyes for about 15 seconds, and it was one of the scariest things I've seen in my life. Pretty spooky case.

ironically, i was watching this episode today on an old VHS tape I had when i got bored (snow days are fun)

his name was Charles Southern Jr.

and the woman who ran the cult-like group was named Teri Hoffman (I know her last name is spelled Hoffman but I'm not sure how Teri/tery/terry is spelled)

The profile mentions Terri Hoffman, who definitely looked eerie. It is one of the creepiest UM segments. I mean, many of Hoffman's followers died suspiciously.

The segment began with a video tape of one cult member claiming that he had cancer, and that three different doctors verified it. But after he committed suicide, an autopsy found no trace of cancer in his body. His family never found out who these doctors were, or whether they existed at all.

I just did some research, and the man in question was actually Terri's husband, Don Hoffman. Also, during my research, I came upon a link related to Terri Hoffman.
