Contributor, can knock a fictional tv character all he/she wants. It is pointless. Without Debra, there is no show. PERIOD Debra is the foundation, without her all you have is a show about two brothers who are miserable who constantly look for their mothers approval. A couple of brothers in their 40's by the way. A mother who refuses to cut the cord and a father who cannot or will not show much affection. Debra is the balance, the straw that stirs the drink. You can over-ANALyze things that are wrong with Debra, but then again you could do that with every character on the show. You choose not to. Contributor, what's your point? You can't win. Remember this is TV.

Supportive? What show have you been watching? She doesn't even bother reading Raymond's column, and in the Christmas letter episode Raymond disclosed that Debra is so non supporting that he didn't mention to her the turn down of his application for a better position at his newspaper.
To categorize Debra as a hard worker is a joke. She was employed one day during the time the Barones are married. Brian Damage has created a fictitious character within a fictitious character. |

She is a housewife that has to take care of three children(two of which are twins) and she has to do it with little or no help from her husband. Who would rather play golf than take his kids to the park. And just because she doesn't read Raymond's column doesn't make her less supportive. Big deal, she is not a sports fan. His parents don't read the column either. She is hard working in other ways and supportive in other ways. Those are the facts. Sorry you can't see that. |

Brian Damage, Debra is a piker. Sorry you can't see that.
Women of the 1950s and 1960s had five or six kids and handled all the household responsibilities with little or no help from their husbands. Three kids is not much of a chore in comparison. The husband was the bread winner and the wife ran the household. Where is this alleged support? Brian Damage, you apparently forgot the wedding invitations episode in which it was revealed that Debra wasn't even willing to put a tape in a VCR for Raymond. Sorry, you can't see that. Debra is a loathsome character. Sorry you can't see that. How about the Tee Ball episode? There wasn't Frank and Marie to blame for Debra's abrasive behavior. The tee ball orchestrator spent many unpaid hours organizing tee ball for the pre-school neighborhood kids. Though he went to extremes, his heart was in the right place. The menus for the children were probably discussed and agreed on before the season started. Debra had a month to six weeks notice to get some of the many approved snacks on the orchestrator's list. Debra incessantly moans about being unappreciated, but she doesn't reciprocate with appreciation for others. It was more paramount for Debra to throw her weight around than to be decent to a fellow who was trying to help. A decent human being would have chuckled at the "approved snacks", but conformed with the menu to non verbally express gratitude to the tee ball orchestrator for giving so much to the kids. Considering the orchestrator's time and effort, the "approved snacks" list wasn't grossly out of line. I don't care how many Emmy's (in a comparatively weak field) the over-rated Patricia Heaton receives, Debra is a classless character. Sorry, you can't see that Brian Damage. Remember how Debra acted in the episode in which Ray won an award. She was snide after the introduction of Ray's fellow nominees. Sorry, you can't see that Brian Damage. |

*Yawn*
First of all, you obviously never raised two children the exact same age. That is hard, very hard. 50's, 60's or now there is no difference. The only difference is now women have more rights and just don't blindly do whatever their husbands tell them to do. You mean to tell me Raymond couldn't see a tape that was clearly labeled "Wedding" and not expect Debra to get upset. Poor Raymond was so busy watching a football game that he couldn't take the time to find a suitable tape and place it in the VCR. Boo-hoo. As far as the snacks go she didn't bring candy or twinkies, she brought pretzels. Was it on the list? No. Should the "orchestrator" make a big deal out of it? Hell no. To add to that, Raymond should of supported his wife right or wrong and instead begged for that man's approval. Yet, Debra is supposed to just stand back with a smile on her face. Yeah right. Debra is flawed, her biggest problem isn't being cold hearted or abrasive. It's being waaaaay too tolerant of her husband and family. |

P.S., Overrated? Once maybe you can say luck, but twice I don't think so. Plus she won best actress from Screen Actors Guild(Which is voted by her peers in the industry) Your so called points are laughable. Sorry you can't see that.

Contributor! You remind me of my mother in law who just can't see that time change after 50 years...Stop living in the past.Look outside, you see that people changed alot since. It's a show that explain the reality of today in the funniest way. When I watch a show,I want to enjoy it,not look up every detailes you know?I hate some characters on tv but,I don't go to the message boards and put them down in front of their fans. That's very rude.

Brian Damage, I agree with you. Contributor, Debra is not perfect. sure, she can be a witch sometimes. Roseanne was always a witch, but I don't see you bashing her. Its apparent you are not wanted here, Contributor, so go......um.....go contribute.
