did anyone think something about a show when they were younger, but then years later, realized it wasn't true?
This is hard to put into words so I'll give an example: shows used to have (I think just sitcoms had this), at the commercial break midway through it, the announcment on the screen "STAY TUNED FOR PART TWO" along with part of the theme playing, and maybe one or more characters from the show or something (Rob & Laura Petrie hugging, Andy & Barneys squad car, Granny Clampett waving and holding a frying pan, or dancing around, etc.) Anyway when I used to see that, I thought they were going to show a different episode!

the Clampetts are in a fancy Beverly Hills jewelry store. Granny points to a tray of rubies. Granny: "How much fer one o' them red diamonds?" clerk: "Madam, those are rubies." Granny: "OK ask her kin we buy one offa her." clerk: " The ruby I am talking about is not a lady." Granny: "Lissen, how she got them diamonds is her business. I'm just sayin' ask her kin we buy one from her." |

They did indeed used to have "interludes" between "acts" of tv shows. Those are all cut out today, presumably to cut some time and also because the commercial breaks they use today may not be in the same spots they were in originally. I think the "Stay tuned for Part Two" line was used more in the daytime versions of the various sitcoms.

I'd forgotten all about those, but now that you mention them, I do remeber them. And I think some of the dramas had them too, like Dragnet, and Adam-12.
