Frank and Marie are the only people who dispense crap if you believe most posters on this message board. How come nobody notices when Debra dishes out crap?
I'm not buying retaliation as an exuse. There are too many occasions when Debra dishes out unprovoked crap. 1. Debra chastises Raymond for being a poor parent in the episode about getting the school system to reduce fifth grade homework, but her contribution toward helping resolve the problem was no more than Raymond's. Hypocrite Debra. 2. Debra agitates Marie with baseless speculation by claiming that a former co-worker of Frank's is Frank's illegitimate son. 3. Debra was insensitive toward Raymond in the break up tape episode. What happened to the "stand up to be counted Debra" when the parents were looking for a spokesperson during a meeting with the school officials in the too much home work episode? She hid behind Raymond. Raymond was handed copious reading material during the meeting with school officials. Did Debra offer any assistance? She only castigates him for not getting started (forget the fact that working precludes time Raymond has to devote to the project). When Raymond asks for Debra's assistance he is informed that Debra, who claimed to have done her part (of course Raymond wasn't doing his part when he was earning an income for the Barones), was too tired to help. Apparently, a few baskets of laundry and the writing of a few checks is sufficient to wear out Debra. The "exhausted" Debra ostensibly goes to a deep sleep after such a "tiring" day. Yet, she can wake up less than two hours later, dress, walk over to Marie's house, and chafe at Ray for being a lousy parent. While Ray didn't read much of the material given to him by the school officials, he read more than Debra, who read none. Yet, Debra sanctimoniously feels she has the right to criticize Raymond for being a lousy parent. Hypocrite, Debra. It wasn't enough for Debra to rile Marie with the "illegitimate son" theory. Several hours after the issue was final Debra had to badger Raymond about Frank's kindness to a former co-worker with her psuedo expertise in psychology. Kudos for Amy for putting Debra into her place. The ending of the "Frank's former co-worker" espisode was great. The entire family walks out on Debra's offer to cook for them, and Amy asks about the apparent rejection, "How does it feel?". Classic. Debra deserved it. Debra, who hung herself during the episode in which the Whalen's divorce was discussed, admitted that life was a struggle before she married Raymond. So much for Brian Damage's assertion that Debra would be a success without Raymond. Debra dishes out crap too. I challenge the message board writers to start noticing. |

Debra was a success before Raymond. I mean, afterall, she was in PR for the NY Rangers before she dated Ray. Not too shabby. Debra isn't perfect, but compared to her whiny husband and brother-in-law and her intrusive in-laws, Debra is a saint.

Debra conceded that life was a struggle before she married Raymond. Whose to say Debra performed effectively in P.R.
Apparently, the Rangers didn't make an offer to retain her after she married Raymond. |

The way I see it, Ray is older than Debra, yet Debra had a good job and her own place while Ray lived at home with his mommy.

As for Debras disposition, she was hardly an innocent, but I would have been a lot worse than she with that mother in law!
