I remember it. My parents watched it every week and for the longest time, I thought Alan Brady was a real person!

I discovered this show during the week last summer TV Land was airing TDVDS every evening in honor of the animated Alan Brady Show. Even though, the Alan Brady Show wasn't very good, TDVDS got a new fan!

I was born 2 1/2 weeks before the fifth season began filming w/ Coast to Coast Big Mouth, so I'm too young to remember the primetime or CBS daytime runs. I most likely first remember seeing the show in local syndicated reruns. I'm sure I remember the opening credits w/ Rob falling over the Ottoman as a youngster, and I noticed that MTM, who had her own sitcom by this time, which I DO remember seeing in primetime on Sat. nights, was a cast member. I didn't get a real appreciation for DVD until I bought the books that relate to his show and read about its behind-the-scenes development. I've always seen it as more of a show for adults, and I've gotten to enjoy it more as I've gotten older. Now I have the whole series on DVD, so I guess you could say I've become a pretty big fan, though I probably wouldn't have bought the DVD collection w/o all the extras that each set has.

The Dick Van Dyke Show is one of my earliest memories of television. I was born in 1957 and have been a life long fan of the show.

I'm a fan as of this year I've always liked Dick van Dyke so when I saw he had a show and it was on tv, of course I had to watch it! They don't show much old tv here at all - only on one community station "for oldies" and stuff never stays on long. I think the Dick van Dyke show ran for about 5 weeks and that's all but luckily after 3 I'd decided I liked it and I went and bought seasons 1 and 2 on DVD straight away

My friend introduced DVD and MTM to me (on Nick@Nite) when we were in jr high back in the early 90s and I've been hooked ever since.

just wondering: have you ever seen "The New Dick Van Dyke Show"? That was another sitcom that he did in the early 70s, for which he once again teamed up with Carl Reiner (who wasn't in the cast this time). It was similar to "The Dick Van Dyke Show" in that he was married and in show buisness, but this time he was a local talk show host (later they moved and he became an actor in a soap opera) and instead of a son, he had a daughter the same age as Richie & an older son who was away at college.
In fact, there was one episode (maybe more) that was a "rehash" of the "TDVDS" episode "Father of the Year" -the one where Rob is named "father of the year" at Richies school-which was a "rehash" of part of the plot of the unaired pilot for "TDVDS".

Does anyone know if this show is on anywhere? I read somewhere that it is on the Goodlife Network, but I don't have that station. From the previews on Season Five, it looked very interesting.
