Default Variety Shows from the 70's that will never be seen again

Redd Foxx Comedy Hour

Lola Falana

The New Bill Cosby Show

It has been said that these shows are not available on VHS, or DVD and may never be available since these shows were never reran.

Even hit variety shows are rarely rerunned so of course these shows weren't. I would love to see The Redd Foxx Comedy Hour. I've never seen it.

No TV Trader has the redd foxx show. Think about, how many people had vcr's in 1977? So it's likely that it's gone forever-lol

Those shows weren't hit series at all. The Redd Foxx Comedy Hour lasted 9 episodes. I think that Lola Falana's show lasted a summer. The New Bill Cosby Show lasted a whole season from 1972-1973 on Monday nights on CBS but was beaten by Monday Night Football and The NBC and ABC (after January) Movies Of The Week, and notice the dropoff from The Doris Day Show to The New Bill Cosby Show.

Have you seen Redd Foxx's A & E Biography??? They showed clips of his variety show on there. Do you have the A & E Biography Channel??? Or you could try to go on Tape Trading and seeing if they have a copy of Redd's A & E Biography.

Yea I know they weren't hits. I remember when The Redd Foxx Comedy Hour was on but I was young and couldn't stay up pass 10:00. The other two I don't remember.

If I'm not mistaken, The Richard Pryor show was never rerun and it's on dvd. You never know. We might see Van Dyke & Company eventually.

I'm not saying the show don;t exist on video, it just will never be available to tv fans. No Trader has that show in their collection because it was never reran and not many people had vcr's in 1977.

Probably the best way to see it would be if the production company released it on video.

I'm confused that Richard Pryor is on DVD because it only lasted 5 weeks so why is it so expensive? I think it was $40.

I know that's probably the only way.

I was going to ask how the RP show made it to DVD when it lasted 5 weeks but i remember hearing that Richard cancelled the show hisself because he wasn;t allowed to do comedy the way he wanted. So there probably was a lot of eps produced that never was aired on the DVD since the show did not continue.

It was released because Richard Pryor is the #1 standup comedian of alltime, according to Comedy Central.... and MANY Stand Up fans.

I agree.
But he's not #1.
Depending on who owns the rights to it.... we may see it arrive on DVD, someday.
