Default Seems like the writers were purposely making fun of the Chrissy character in the ep

"Night of the Ropers", Jack introduced Mr. roper to Cindy as chrissy's cousin and Roper said-who cares twice. And when Janet introduces Mrs. Roper to Cindy as Chrissy's cousin, Mrs. Roper says-It figures-trying to say she was dumb just like chrissy. Also notice how when Mrs. Roper first came in, she hugged Janet and then ran over to Jack and hugged him and never said one word about-"where is chrissy?

How Mrs. Roper acted when introduced to Cindy was a bit odd and inconsistent with her character, almost bordering on rude.

I thought Mrs. Roper thought more highly of Chrissy, and therefore would have been more cordial to Cindy, than what her behavior seemed to convey.

Yeah, I thought it was strange that she didn't even ask about Chrissy. That's not like Mrs. Roper.

Yeah it was inconsistent because Mrs. Roper never viewed Chrissy as Dumb during the years she was on Three's Company. Unless she thought Chrissy was dumb and always kept it to herself.

I think she knew Chrissy was dumb, but thought she was sweet enough to make up for it.

I agree. Mrs. Roper cared for Chrissy and never seemed to think of her as being dumb. Another thing to keep in mind was that this was during the time of Suzanne Somers' salary dispute. Since the writers were mad at her, they wanted to make her character as dumb as possible. (Remember the line about the pool in "Chrissy's Cousin.")

I think everyone knows that this ep was during the contract disputes which is why I said that the writers made fun of the Chrissy character in the ep Night of the Ropers.

This was an example of the producers letting personal anger getting in the way of the script. By doing that I felt they also made Mrs. Roper's charachter look bad as she showed no interest or concern in what happened to Chrissy. I also thought it was strange how they had Cindy interacting with them like she'd known them as long and as well as Jack and Janet. I think a similar type situation happened with Valerie/Hogan Family when they had her charachter killed off yet noone in the family seemed too upset about it.

YES!!!-THat was annoying the hell out of me that the Cindy character was talking to Mr. Roper like she known him for years. They made Jenilee's character look so FOOLISH

Good point. After thinking about it further, I definitely feel that some of the animosity on the part of the producers, etc. toward Suzanne Somers spilled over in front of the camera in this one. Because neither Mr. or Mrs. Roper's responses when Chrissy was mentioned seemed justified.

Perhaps Jack and Janet wrote the Ropers letters mentioning Chrissy being in Fresno, and thus they already knew.

Maybe. But I still think it was kinda rude. Even if Jack & Janet did write to the Ropers about Chrissy being in Fresno, Mrs. Roper could still have asked about Chrisy, assuming Jack & Janet would have spoken to her recently. Besides I also thought it was rude the way they shunned off Cindy, usually Mrs. Roper would have been very interested to know more about the new roomate.

I think its all the producers fault. No need to bash the Chrissy character only because it was played but Suzanne.
