Heyhey
![]() The subject of other TV shows making a reference to "Mama's Family" came up on another board that I visit regularly. I was just there a few minutes ago because I was going to post about how "The Simpsons" made a reference to it, but somebody had already beat me to it. It was in the episode "Lisa's First Word" in Season 4 [The Season 4 DVD is now in stores, BTW].The Simpsons family is trying to get Maggie to say her first word and as they're sitting around, Marge and Homer both tell Lisa and Bart the story about how Lisa said her first word. As the story goes, Marge got pregnant with Lisa in 1983 and she was due to be born during the 1984 Summer Olympics. Marge goes into labor when she's watching the Olympics on TV, and right as Homer and Marge leave for the hospital, you hear the reporter on TV say, "Coming up next, an hour-long episode of Mama's Family." and to which Homer says, "YES!" ![]() So...how about it? I want to know what other TV shows have made a reference. Obviously they did on "The Nanny" because Dorothy Lyman was such a big part of that TV show.

There was an episode of Get A Life where Chris Peterson is lamenting the fact that he made two of his friends think they were just like him while they had amnesia, and he says, "Oh no! My greatest dream has just become my worst nightmare! This is like an episode of The Twilight Zone and Mama's Family all rolled into one!"
Wow Miss Vicki, deja vu!

I can't remember which episode it is, I know it wasn't too long ago, either I saw it myself, or a friend told me about it. But there is an episode of "Will & Grace" where I think, Karen is talking about how she wanted to become an actress, I'm not 100% sure what she is talking about, but I'm pretty sure that's it. But I know she does say something to the effect of "My career as an actress was over when my scene as an extra on 'Mama's Family' ended up on the cutting room floor.'
Such a funny quote, I wish I knew what episode it was, and I'd give you the exact quote. |
